Hi everybody,
Im new to this site and could really use some advice. Im starting LSU traditional BSN program. Was wondering if anyone has any advice about what to expect and what I should do to prepare. Also if anyone is actually a student at LSU that would help or if they are starting in the Fall as well.
Did you get your whites already?
Um...no. In fact I haven't done much of anything to prepare for next semester, well until today.
There is so much running around to do - might as well get some of it done before August! See you soon!
I started the online component for the CPR class and started making lists of things to do before the semester starts. I'm up to three lists each with twenty or so items. Yea, nursing school!
Does anyone have an entire required book list for the Soph II semester? I would at least like to get an idea of how much I will be spending in the next few months.
Thanks for your help and I'll see you soon!
Is everyone who meets the minimum criteria invited to interview, or do they look at all of the apps. and only invite a certain number to interview?
I think you have to meet the min criteria to be invited to an interview. I'm really nervous! I think I might take the HESI over. I got an 88 and I don't know if thats good enough. I scored pretty low in anatomy, I got a 76. I have a really high gpa though but I'm scared I could have done a lot better on the HESI.

I'm nervous about the HESI. I took it at BRCC, but it didn't have any science on it-I got a 90. Good luck :)
Whenever I asked the advisor at the LSUHSC campus she said there was no way of really knowing the average Hesi score because we're judged by more than just our Hesi score. She said they still have to look at our gpa's, papers, and how well we did in our interviews. I have a friend who had a mediocre gpa (3.2) and a 90 i think on the Hesi and still got in for the Fall and she thinks its because she did well on her interview. So theres no real way to tell. I know though... I'm pretty curious and anxious too. I don't know whether to just mail in my application or retake the Hesi to hopefully get a higher score. This is gonna be long couple of months! I wonder when we'll know if we get an interview...
Thanks - I was confused because it says 4 weeks after the admissions exam? That's funny that it says 79 when you looked at it.
When I did, it said 80. I wonder if it changes as scores get uploaded, once more people take the test?[/quote
Yea I took mine June 24. It might update again over the course of this week since people can still take it. Did you take your exam before or after June 24?

For the drug test you need to pick up a packet at the student affairs office and then bring it to the drug test place in the CBD, bring cash, I can't remember if it was 20 or 40$.
And while you're at the school you might as well order your name tag at the book store and pick up patches for your uniform and one for your lab coat.
If you take CPR before the first week of August "blitz" that the school is planning, make sure that it is an "American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider" course. I hear that other courses are more expensive but much shorter.
