Hi everybody,
Im new to this site and could really use some advice. Im starting LSU traditional BSN program. Was wondering if anyone has any advice about what to expect and what I should do to prepare. Also if anyone is actually a student at LSU that would help or if they are starting in the Fall as well.
Hey everyone, thanks for all the great advice! I feel a lot better about the situation. I am trying to get in contact with the student recruiter but she has been out of the office lately. I am going to ask her if she thinks I can or should retake the HESI. Then depending on what she says I will be mailing in my application soon! Excited :)

The box labeled "Freshman Year" is actually the required pre-reqs. You enter the BSN program as a Sophomore. Make sure you have your courses evaluated by the Office of Student Affairs to see if they transfer before applying.

They've been using the same one for several years now: The Nurse, The Math, The Meds: Drug Calculations Using Dimensional Analysis. Surely they won't be changing it, cause we're still using it. There are others out there but make sure you get one with dimensional analysis because we're requried to show all dimensional analysis on the exams, even if you know the answer in your head.

The instructors will send out some dosage calculations documents and a video to go along with it. There will be practice questions on the handouts as well as a conversion table. I bought the nurse, the math, and the meds textbook and studied until I was blue in the face. When I went to take the test, all of the questions were in the format that was in the handouts. I have not opened that book since, and everyone I know that bought it said the same thing. I'm pretty sure we will need it at some point, so I'm kind of glad that I did go ahead and buy it, but a lot of us didn't think that we needed to buy the book for that test.
For anyone who's taken the HESI, what do you recommend using to study for the science portion of the test? I have taken the test before (at BRCC, got a 90), but the science was not required. I have to study guide, but the science review is not very helpful. I have my old A/P book, but not my Bio and Chem books. I took these classes in 2003, so it's been a while. Is there Physics, or just Chem, Gen. Bio, and A/P? Thanks.

Alexander, one of my classmates at LSU had a 3.2 gpa with 90's in all sections except for anatomy and phys but she still got in for fall of 2010. I think you'll be fine.
