LSU BSN Fall 2014 Semester

Published

Hey everyone! I was a spring 2014 applicant, I received an alternate letter so I am crossing my fingers I have better luck this semester! I know everyone probably feels like a huge weight is lifted off their shoulders as today was the application deadline. But now the nervousness is kicking in! I created this thread because I figured we all need the moral support - or at least I know I do lol! I hope I can be of help to anyone who may have questions as far as interviews and the time frame of this process! Good Luck to all of you!! ;):)

Hey everyone! I'm a current SOPH 2 at LSU and I can TOTALLY empathize with what y'all are going through! I was one of the VERY LAST people to get a letter, and I thought for sure I wouldn't get in (but I did!). Don't give up if you haven't gotten your letter yet! It's probably still in the snail mail system somewhere.

For those of you who already got accepted, congratulations! Enjoy your free time now, because you will be in for a total culture shock beginning in August. Prepare as much as you can ahead of time during the summer. If you put your time and energy into it all, it is do-able!

If y'all have any questions, I'll be happy to answer them!

Loooord Jesus, don't tell me that. Lol what's his/her last name?! I'm totally gonna stalk my mailman today.

Last name started with a C

@withlovejp I emailed mr. Landry after being put on the alternate list and not receiving a spot . I should have met up with him instead of emailing. Does anyone know the odds of getting in for sure being a second time applicant?

I stalked mine and didn't have anything lol I know how you feel. I'm freaking out to!

I feel as if I'll have TONS of questions! prepare during the summer... like read the books and stuff? I pretty much have no free time; it's church, school, work, repeat. I don't think I'm going to work or be as involved as a worship leader when I start nursing school.

I'm still waiting with everyone who hasn't gotten letters! I look forward to hearing the good news. I'm sure it's on its way!

Yeah it helped a lot that I met with him because he told me all that I could do to have better chances of getting in this time around. I'm not sure of the odds; But from reading previous threads... I noticed that its not extremely uncommon to NOT get accepted the first time. So hopefully second times a charm. Hopefully they see our hard work and dedication in not giving up.

I hope its in ABC order then!

@withlovejp yea he told me what to improve as well . Oh well we shall see if our hard work paid off

A lot of the stuff that should be done during the summer is getting a physical exam done, TB skin test, , urine drug screening, Basic Life Support (BLS) for CPR certification done. They will tell you you absolutely need your malpractice insurance to enroll in classes, which isn't necessarily true. I would buy it towards the end of your first semester, that way it will last longer, because it needs to be renewed every year.

Also, by the end of the summer, I would just try to get your books from Amazon or rent them, and uniforms are also being implemented this fall, so I would get that as well.

Uniforms just to go to classes? I thought you only had a uniform for clinicals? So is it two different uniforms now? Is the uniform a pair of scrubs?

Yeah a lot of people weren't following the dress code, so now uniforms are being placed for coming to class. We have to buy polos from the bookstore that are either white, purple, or grey (I bought all 3 colors). And you also have to wear either black or blue dress pants with the polos. :( It sucks, but I plan on bringing a change of clothes if I plan on being on campus all day.

There is another uniform for clinical, which is the all-white scrubs but that isn't until your SOPH 2 semester.

Does that include white shoes?
