LPN travel nursing

Would like to know if anyone out there is an LPN travel nurse. If so, how long is the wait between assignments and what are the pros and cons. Also, how much money do you put out up front? Thanks loads.

To be honest with you I have never heard of LPN traveling nurses. Any traveling nurse I have ever met has been an RN. I would imagine that is because of their more expanded licensure. For instance I live in CT and the majority of the hospitals like Yale-New Haven and Bridgeport Hospital do not hire LPNs. In large city hospitals they tend to prefer RNs to LPNs so I think that it would make it harder to place travelling LPNs. I am actually interested in this also but am currently looking into getting my RN license. Good luck in your quest. I'd be interested to know what you find out.

their are some out there I don't know the names of them. I used to work as a CNA and there were 2 nurses who were on a travel assignment coming from Alabama.

Here in Virginia and other southern states, LPN's with 2 years of experience can travel working in Med/Surg, PCU, long term care, and home care. A couple of my friends are travel nurses and they say the pay and benefits are great but the bad thing is is that you don't get much of an orientation to the facilities so you're expected to be a self starter without needing much guidance. LPN travel nursing exists, albeit there are very few LPN travel nurses in existence. The market for travel nursing almost entirely consists of RNs.

Sorry I'm late getting back to you. I talked to an RN I work with who's interested in traveling. Golly Moses...she tried to hook up with a company who promised her a job in California only to find out that in addition to licensure it would take approx. 1 month for the fingerprinting to come through. She said she didn't want to quit her job, fly out there and find out that the fingerprint verification didn't come through on time. A lot to consider. How do you know which company is reputable, etc. The replies are saying there are travel LPN's out there, but I would like more info and advice on procedure so I don't get burned.

I'm mnot sure but there are two magazines that i will check if you like they both have free subscriptions. Advacne for LPN's and heathcare travler, if you ggoogle them you subcribe on line.

I was looking to find anyone with any personal information to contribute about their experiences with LPN travling .

Well, I don't know MUCH about this. But I've met some LPN's who travel between nursing homes within the same state. Maxim is an agency that I've heard several nurses say pays well. Not sure where their offices are outside of North Carolina. But pay depends on the agency and level of experience/specialty I would imagine.
