Hi, I'm a new graduate. Does anyone know the starting pay for LPN's?
It's totally different in Florida depending on the area you're in... hospitals try to start you at the $12/hr crap (and it's even hard to get into a hospital), one hospital has a FLEX position that starts you at like $20/hr. The place I just got into as a brand new LPN (LTC/rehab/ALF) started me at $19/hr and my pay will go up after orientation...this is pretty good, 'cause other LTC facilities I hear put you at like $17.50/hr. I've had doctor's offices try to start me at $14-$15... bleh :/
Hi, Im new to allnurses but after reading the discussions this is def a place I wanna be to talk to someone..I am taking the Net test for the 3rd time and Im really getting frustrated and at one point I was ready to give up.. Try to get back into school at 30 is very hard and I commend every one who has done this . How do I know if this is something I wanna do?? If I cant pass this basic skills test..I recently just got my Ged last year and passed with flying colors on the first try...Once I received that I thought about now what....And then I had a reality check I told myself I was gonna be what I was wanted to be and that was nurse...From that day on i have been to 2 different schools trying to pass this exam and did nothing but failed...This is my last chance to prove to myself that this is what i wanna do and I can do this.. I have been studying soooo hard and I really want this..Does anyone have any tips or stratergies that can help me get over this hump...

NKY LTC starts new nurses @ $16/hr. With 6 yrs exp., I make almost $18./hr. with a $4 shift differential for 2nd/3rd shifts. PRN is $19.50/hr but you don't qualify for ANY benefits or bonuses. People posted that Rural areas pay less because of lower cost of living but here, you make more because the nurses have to commute and they want to motivate nurses to travel there. Problem is, here, there aren't any jobs available, because of the economy and the 4 main hospitals merged, only hiring RN's. LPN's already on staff have been given 2 year ultimatums to go back to school, quit, or be demoted to custodial workers with the LPN title and the same pay.
