LPN starting pay?
I am in Yuma AZ and there are about 5 LTCs. Starting pay is $22, $25, and $27 for LPNs. Not bad. The local hospital does not hire PNs.

75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?
Dalia, you may want to look into your understanding of the questions and words. Your posts are very confusing with this short language and this may be affecting you during test time. Please go over questions with a person who is great in English and understanding words. Good luck and I will continue to pray for your success.

I just took My Board test March 24th at noon
Please, please do not fret! Remember me? I took the RN 4 times and have failed each time but I redid each and every time and will pass. I went and took the VN boards and passed so please do that if you can. You may be able to take it right now! If you can, do so and do not give up!!!! You can do it! I teach medical classes in a large hispanic community. You are right, it is the interpretation of the word that trips them up. Do not fret though. Get with your American friends and take your NCLEX books with you. Go over the questions with them and have them explain every last question word for word. This way you can find out what words you are getting wrong and deciphering wrong. You can do it, I promise because you have perseverance and drive. Plus the knowledge is there, you just have to apply it the right way. If it helps, we can schedule our next test together for the NCLEX RN. I took my VN in San Diego if that is close enough to you. It may help your morale. Whoever finishes first will wait for the other. BUT THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS TO NEVER GIVE UP!!!

RN-BSN for person with BA in another specialty
Do the RN to MSN degree online. There are many, many, many. Just put that in the Google search.

How far behind am I?
Don't sweat it and if your state participates in quick results (go to your state board of nursing website to find out) you can see if you passed and make your plans from there. I am the same way, I have to plan 50 years ahead! Good luck.

Changing Careers at 31
25K is way too much. Contact your local community or technical college. The program is only one year. If it is still too much, start out with the CNA then your employer may reimburse some classes as you ascend through the ranks.

I just read your post about them sending a letter. Everytime I failed, I got a letter but Cali may be different. Check the site and if your license is not on there you may not have passed. Keep us posted.

I just took My Board test March 24th at noon
Hey! Do not fret. Get in contact with your licensing department. It is worth a shot. I am in contact with mine and he sends me emails weekly. I have been in contact with Scott for five years now--from the day I graduated and have taken the NCLEX-RN 4 times now! He is very great and a good person. He tells me things that are in his scope and works and has encouraged me all these years. Do not give up on taking and passing the NCLEX-RN Grandma! Do what I did and sit for the PN and get that experience under your belt if you have not already. I found the PN test to be very technical and I am a technical learner and thinker. Now I am working in LTC in order to get practice and think like a RN. My DON is very good about questioning me and pointing out RN discipline daily and on all my shifts. You should not give up! Do not give up! The knowledge is there but the test taking skills for the RN are not. Just hone them. I went to the library and got all NCLEX-RN books. I study from a different one everyday--2hr, 3 mins it does not matter. It help the skills. In the meantime keep involved in all aspects of nursing if you can. For dairyfairy get in touch with the examiner by email and make it personal like, "I am so and so and I was just wondering about my current situation. The Pearson site is off kilter and I am sweating..." Be honest, board staff are human too and more than willing to assist. Scott emailed me today to tell me I was licensed and to get my resident status in order becaue of information he had from the licening department. He is worth his weight in gold and I consider him a mentor. Keep fighting everyone!! WE WILL ALL GET THERE TOGETHER--GOOD AND BAD!

:bow:O.K. pay attention. I said you have to verify that your STATE BOARD OF NURSING participates in Quick Results on the Pearson site. When you log in to your Pearson account (you have to have an account to pay for quick results) go to View History. This page will show the where, when and how of your test date under the Status column it will say 'Delivery Successful.' If your state does participate under this line with be a tag that says 'quick results.' If it does not let you charge your card then your state does not participate in quick results or you are doing something wrong. Use the nursing process to see if the address matches your card and all that stuff. Please post what state you are from and I will tell you if they do. Hope this helps.

Mispronouncing a word makes you less of a nurse
Oh come on! NOTHING makes you less of a nurse but getting your license revoked! Mispronouncing a word is not the end of your nursing career or life. In a sense he was correct when he told you how to say the word. The rest was BS. For your own personal reasons just practice and be sure to get the pronunciation correct because if you learn it incorrectly you will phrase it incorrectly. If you plan on eventually going into education or something you really need to focus on that skill. If not, once you pass the NCLEX is it really THAT serious? Keep doing well in your program. Success is the best revenge.

Go to the Pearson site and check to see if your state participates in quick results. If they do, then pay the $8 and get your unofficial results from Pearson. Their results are always what the Board goes by but you can also challenge. Also, what state are you in? Some states take forever--like two weeks to post results. Pearson Quick Results is your best bet. Hope this helps and keep us posted--we are rooting for you!!!

This Economy Is Affecting Nurses
I am so sorry for being confusing. I am an ADN graduate which equals RN when you pass the NCLEX. I took the PN after not passing the RN test four times. I am a Community Health Executive Director and Certified Health Education Specialist and I work for a large health services company. In my division I have two job openings for RNs. I recently interviewed four out of work RNs for the two positions I have open. I hope this is clear.

Everyone is right. This economy is taking no prisoners. Be sure to have a job before you leave a job.
