Hi there,

Anyone familiar with the NLN ACE 1 PN-RN Childbearing and Child Health exam? If so, do you have any thoughts or tips? This test is given to "CLEP" out of Maternal Child Health courses for those who are already LPN's but are pursuing their RN.

Thanks,

espikey

I took the NLN ACE exam in 2004 and what I remembered is that the test you on pre-natal care of the mother such as STDS, the required labs. Question were asked on the actual stages of labor and deliver. Care of the newborn. For the baby portion they asks question on developmental stages. Cleft lip and palate. Question on safety. I belive they give 100 question for the maternal portion and 98 question for the newborn.

The CC I attend gave study guides and I studied from the same book they used for the OB portion of the program. I hope I helped.

Cool, thanks for the info!

I took the NLN ACE 2 Childbearing and Child Health exam. It was the hardest exam i had ever taken. Seems like all the questions had to do with diseases, some of the I never heard of. Side effects of pediatric meds was a common question as well. I studied the outline that was given to me for the exam but I still had barely a clue. However, that was ACE 2, which was for LPN-BSN. If you have not already taken it, study, study, and study some more. Good luck.

Lisaea? Did you pass it? I'm hoping it just seemed awful but you did good.

There is a great CD called Maternal Newborn Nursing Made incredibly easy. I passed this test 1st time using this CD..... It's awesome.

This sounds similar to what I have to take but my college has us take Excelsior challenge exams. I'm studying right now for the mental health one and hoping to take it in 2 weeks. Then will start on maternal/child. I may try the made incredibly easy books - I've heard good things about them! The excelsior tests guides have some sample questions in the back and for the mental health it seemed to focus on therapeutic communication with a few medication side effect questions. If that's how it is I should be ok.

I was told by one of the recruters for my school to study the RN-NCLEX review book. But I am glad I checked here first because now I know about the CD & books for "made incredibly easy" I will also look for those books and CD's.

hi there! i live in erie, pa. at the end of november 08 i took the ace ob and peds exams. they were tough..especially since i've been an lpn in ltc for 18 years, but i passed. i studied ati books and nclex-rn peds and ob questions. i walked out of the exams not sure how i did, but i passed both in the 96th and 98th percentile.

the questions were somewhat random (never heard of uterine souffle' until then) but usually able to narrow it down to two answers and pick the best from there.

good luck!!

Thanks for the tips. What is an ATI book? I bought two review books from Lippincott, they seem to be pretty good. How long did you study for the test? I have been studying about 1 month and like I said before I take the test in may. I hope I pass. CONGRATS!!:yeah:
