LPN-RN bridge program that only requires 3 Nur Classes?

Nursing Students LPN-RN

Hi, im a new LPN and i was inquiring around to different colleges in my area for the LPN-RN bridge program since my original nursing school didn't have a RN program. I was amazed at the various requirements of different schools; the grading scales for a passing grade were all different ranging from a 71 to an 80 for a 'C' avg. Some schools required 7 nur courses, some required only 5 or 6, and i even found one that only require 3 Nursing courses in 2 semesters! this one didn't even require a lpn-rn transition course, the only courses you take there is an advanced med-surg, psych, and a management course. So, I guess my question is; Is less better in this case???

Thought I would post an update.. I am now deep into Nursing 3 and am proud to say I passed the first exam with a 90%!! I went to the same school for my LVN and they prepared us well. We just have 3 classes but Spring and Fall are 9 units each, we also have a class over Summer... I will be done at the end of Fall (right before Xmas!!). It is a fabulous program, tough but do-able.

So there ARE accredited, GOOD schools with only 3 classes for LVN to RN... just make sure you pick one that has a good pass rate and is accredited!!!

Good luck to all!

I am currently in a bridge program and I definitely have to take more than 3 courses. Just be very careful because the last thing you want to do is pay for these classes and not be able to pass your boards.e

what bridge program are you in? is there one on the east coast?

To answer your question, no; less time spent in school is not always better (for some). If you generally adapt well, maybe it will work for you.

My question for you is, what is the name of the school only requiring 3 courses for transition?

Hello all, Can anyone share any New York or New Jersey that offers the same short LPN to RN program with the 2 semester. I have read everyones comment and i only see Cali and MI...someone please NY NJ...I would appreciate this soo much....

My cc only requires 3 nursing courses (and 2 1 credit nursing courses) if you have your LPN. You are able to challenge the 1 nursing course. But they require all the prereqs on top of that.

Are you saying that you only need 3 classes or 3 nursing classes? I find it odd that you don't have to get your prereqs also.

Hello All,

I graduated from an LPN program in August 2009. I am currently working as an LPN but i'm looking for an online LPN to RN program. Does anyone know if such a program exists? I would also be interested in the LPN to BSN if its out there. I have to say that the 3 course bridge sounds really enticing. However, I live in Washington state and even though I will pack up and move (temporarily), that is a bit far for me to go. Maybe something a bit closer to home would be do-able.
