LVN Torches building

Nurses LPN/LVN

Today I saw the news, an LVN started a fire in a building with people in it. Two died in the fire and 6 were hurt badly. I was heartbroken to think that one of our own could do this. But I have to ask, if she did it because her report was due and she hadn't completed it, as they say, what was she thinking??? Surely her DON would be mad, but to ruin her life and the people that were in the building? To say nothing of the families of those poor victims... I know that I would rather be terminated than hurt another person. I am trying to understand her reasoning, but, I think it's beyond me. Were her working conditions so bad that this was the only way out she could think of?? If so then why not just find another position?? I just needed to vent on this, and to ask, what makes a good nurse go so horribly wrong?

Pray for the lost and injured, and for the nurse, they all need God's help right now.

It was actually 3 people that were killed. Happened in Houston last week.

I guess that some people just can't take the stress and demand from working within a health care setting! This is honestly the only thing I could think of that would make someone want to do this (without questioning a mental disorder or something).

I never thought of killing patients. The staff, well, while I would never want to kill them either, I have thought of slow torture for the toxic people. Bottom line is that I would try and search for another position. I do wonder what her work ethic was...was she a good employee, or someone who really didn't have the best interests of her patients at heart. I am also sorry to hear that one of our own did this. Thanks for sharing.
