Any LPN JOBS IN MARYLAND?

I heard discouraging news that there are no LPN jobs in the Baltimore/Annapolis area.

I'm considering going for an LPN license.

I also dont want to work somewhere where there is heavy lifting- I mean lifting over 35lbs of a patient-ie lifting that is scientifically proven to cause skeletal/muscular damage.

Well good luck finding a nursing job where you don't have to do heavy lifting. :) I'm in the Balto/DC area and as far as I can tell the LPN jobs are still plentiful if you are willing to do LTC. You should also be able to do correctional nursing, school nursing and psych.

So the "no-lift" policies that should be in effect essentailly aren't? What about assisted living wiht residents who are more independent, pediatricians office, pysh nursing-there cant be too much heavy lifting there? Heavy lifting is really dangerous for any one no matter your muscle mass or frame size-vertabrae get compressed, period. It scares me. I've hurt my back minorly already-but that was ridiculous lifting as a CNA.

I have an inactive license. I am going to start a refresher course in May to get my license back to active. I am looking even at ltc and it seems they want 1 year of experience...I am really getting discouraged and wondering if this is a good idea. The classes will cost me $1000. I dont want to spend that money if I am not going to be able to get a job! Any help? About lifting..i was a GNA a while ago, and know that is just part of the job. that doesnt bother me at all. at this point i will do anything just to get in somewhere!

Have you ever did psych nursing. Can you tell me the routine that goes on there? I see you live in the baltimore area, what facilities hire lpn in psych. It's something I'm looking into. I know I've only been a lpn for 4 months now, but I'm already getting sick of it, I feel like I need a change ALREADY!

Hi,

Psych LPNs duties vary depending on the facility. I think that at places like Spring Grove they are largely med nurses and other places like Sheppard Pratt they do basically the same thing as RNs which can include meds, conducting groups, interviews with patients/family, and of course tons of paperwork. Ask to do a share day. Didn't you have a bit of a hard time finding a job? Like Commuter suggested I'd make sure you had something lined up before you quit your current job. Good luck.
