LPN interview at UFV

Published

Since I've completed the pre-requisites for the LPN program, I'm expecting to have an interview soon at UFV. I'm just wondering if anyone has gone through the interview process at UFV before and could you give me some advise as to what kind of questions I'd be expecting from them? I'm very nervous.

What about the actual LPN course is it hard?

Thank you for your help : )

Ok, so I am finished my interview and I think it went well. I was asked about my study habits, how I was able to pay for the course, and what kind of support system I had throughout the program.

My interview was with one of the instructors and she was extremely nice, I cannot wait until 3rd year to have this lady as my teacher. She was so wonderful.

I was asked why I wanted to be a nurse, what skills I can bring to nursing and how I know nursing is for me.

I was given a multitasking scenario, and had to justify my reasoning for the scenario (a retail job scenario) order.

I was explained to more about the program, and came out of there feeling great. I may not be accepted, but it was a worthwhile experience to meet this teacher.

I can say, don't stress about the interview, it was so relaxed and easy going, that you could not help but feel great. Good luck.

I was told that they are assimilating the candidates in the third week of April, and we will know my the beginning of May. I don't know if it is the same for the LPN program, but please let me know how your interview went and when you get in. I am sure you will!!!

That's awesome! I was thinking about you all day, constantly checking my email to see if you wrote, LOL! Pathetic, huh?!

I really appreciate you giving me tips. You're great! Thank you...thank you :)

I sure hope you get into the program 'coz you deserve it....for being sooo nice and helpful!

I won't stress anymore. I know there's a reason for everything and if this is my destiny then I'll make it. If not, then there sure is a good reason for that.

I'll keep in touch with you til the end of this whole process, I promise.

Thanks for your support and for keeping in touch. You're the only one who replied to my post. I'm so glad you found me here :)

P.S. They're interviewing LPN candidates til middle of May. I saw the booking sched when i went for the info session. That means they won't be sending out letters til 1st week of June. I guess it's a longer wait for us.

Take care, girl ;)

You are so sweet, your words were so very kind. I do hope this helps you out, and anyone else who might be entering our shoes. My sympathies for the even longer wait that you have, only UFV candidates can appreciate our process. I know we can all sympathize with each other for the process, but it is so much easier to know someone who is going through the same scheduling.

I also believe everything happens for a reason, and after my interview today, I am sure nursing is the right way. The teacher was so inspiring and informative, I hope you get her. I would say her name but allnurses would **** her out lol.

I am so happy to have found this post as well, and I hope in the near future we will see each other in person throughout our nursing career.

When the time comes, even though we are in different programs, just email me and I will do everything I can to help if you need it.

I will be thinking of you the day of your interview and like you, will be checking my e-mail constantly to find out how you did.

Take care future nurse!

Niki:hug:

Awww..thank you Niki :kiss You've been a great help for sure.

Can't wait to get it over with. 4 more days of waiting for me. Did your interview take a long time? They said it's usually about an hour. I have to go back to work immediately after that.

It will be fantastic if we can both could get in, then we could meet up for coffee at the campus on our free time. LOL! wishful thinking ;)

Have a good weekend

I agree, the coffee would be great sometime. My interview went for a little over two hours, and I was quoted 30 minutes, so I am not really sure what that means ha ha.

Wishful thinking as well!!

Have a great weekend!:monkeydance::tinkbll:(magic dust of luck)

whoa! that's a long interview. I think someone is booked right after me so i guess mine would be just an hour, i hope

I hate to say it but I'm a bit worried about the scenario question:confused:. I hope I'll be able to answer it right. I think I'm pretty good at multitasking but I'm sure they're looking for a specific answer. I just know that whichever task that is most urgent should be dealt first.

Anyways, two more sleeps and it's over!! yay! :yeah:

Take care my friend. Can't wait to do either the dance and celebrate *wine:anpom:

or maybe I'll just do this -:banghead:

:D

I felt a little bad after my interview, there were two interviewees waiting for their interview. But I am sure they managed very well.

As for the scenario question, I was given a retail situation. Had a spill, 1 customer for the fitting room, one in the fitting room, one at the till, two unable to find their items, and the phone is ringing. What do you do.

It was fairly simple, you will be fine!!:loveya:

It is almost like christmas excitement up to the interview. Once the interview is over, it feels like the christmas presents are waiting right in front of your and you have to look at it, not knowing what goodies lay inside. I have never been very patient LOL!

I am going to buy my stethoscope next payday, just to keep me goal orientated towards nursing. If I don't get in, then it gives me inspiration to get back in it, and try again. My motivation.

I got the same interviewer :yeah:!! Same questions! OMG! Thank you so much, my friend :redbeathefor all your help. I felt really good during and after the interview. That woman is amazing. There's just a calming presence when you're with her. My interview lasted exactly an hour. And there was an interviewee waiting outside.

It is a longer wait for LPNs. She said if I didn't get a letter by June 15, i should call in as they would start sending letters 1st week of June. I also asked her what my options are if I don't get accepted. She mentioned taking the pre-req course to get a higher mark and continue volunteering. I also asked if I can take Anatomy & Physiology and if that would be credited for the next intake, she said yes. That will take a load off the 1st semester.

Can't wait to find out and start shopping for scrubs,LOL! :lol2:

Good luck to you and God bless, Nikki.

Mafel:redpinkhe

I knew you would do well! I am so glad you had the same interviewer, she was so amazing, I agree. She just confirmed what I wanted to do. I am so happy for you!!!

I too am excited to buy scrubs and equipment. I have decided that next payday I am going to buy my stethoscope. I know it is premature, and most would look at we weird, but hey I want to lol.

My reasoning: If I get in, yay one less thing to buy, If I don't get in, it gives me the motivation and excitement to pick myself back up and try again.

Not getting in is discouraging, and I think my steth will bring me back to reality.

I am so excited, and even though I KNOW I wont hear anything until May, I check my e-mail almost daily, just in case! Now that is pathetic :anbd:

Now both of our waiting games start.

I was reading int he newspaper from yesterday, that the new Chilliwack Campus is opening soon, I am so excited, our classes will be in the new campus. I find that incredibly exciting.

There's a new Chwk Campus? Is that on UFV ground as well? I've never really explored it, looks pretty small compared to the one in Abbotsford.

I'm already looking at buying the book Math for nurses just to get a headstart. I'm terrible in Math and I don't want to look like a complete idiot when classes start .

Do you know anything about student loans/ grants? I have to apply for one after I get accepted.

Wait till school starts to buy that stethescope. Littman has reps that go to the schools and you can pick up some bargains. They usually offer a student discount.

It also depends on you and your hearing. Some people do really well with the inexpensive one you can buy on campus (usually under $25) while others say they can't hear a thing. Littmans are good but then I have coworkers that swear by other brands. The name escapes me right now but they are very colourful and have prints.

I will consider the stethoscope fiona, my dilemma is that I am taking a student loan from a bank, and I may not get the entire amount, so I am wanting to buy as much as possible before I actually get the loan, then there is a lot less to pay back. But, I will consider it, thank you:D

As for the Math book, GREAT IDEA, that never occurred to me, hmmmmm UFV bookstore here I come LOL.

The new campus should be open either fall, or January, it is starting to look beautiful. It is not located where the old campus is, it is in the Sardis side where the trades and tech building is for UFv. Here is a link to the site progress:

I am so excited, the building is so new, and pretty LOl
