LPN interview at UFV

Published

Since I've completed the pre-requisites for the LPN program, I'm expecting to have an interview soon at UFV. I'm just wondering if anyone has gone through the interview process at UFV before and could you give me some advise as to what kind of questions I'd be expecting from them? I'm very nervous.

What about the actual LPN course is it hard?

Thank you for your help : )

I don't know the process, but I am hoping to attend UFV for the RN program. I am hoping to get an interview soon as well. Good luck, and if I find out anything I will let you know!

Hello sharkeatyou,

Thanks for the post :). I just got a letter from UFV the other day for the Info Session on March 3rd where we can schedule for a personal interview. I'll let you know how it goes.

Good luck  also on being an RN :nurse:. That is actually my ultimate goal. I just couldn't afford to do 3 yrs of school without working. My plan is to take LPN for a year, work for a year or two then go and pursue BSN thru LPN access @ UFV. Nurses are so in demand these days it won't be hard to find a job at all.

Cheers :) :lol2:

Sorry for the delay, that is a great plan!!! I did get a call for an interview and it is for March 25th? Have you heard anything? good luck!

Thanks for replying. I hope you can give me tips about your interview. Mine is scheduled on the 30th but the results will not be til June bec. there are so many applicants. Apparently, there's 60 people who have completed status but they're only taking 26 students this sem. According to the dept. head, if you don't get accepted, they'll tell you what you need to improve on.

I thought I'd get interview first before you so I can post some of the questions they'll ask. Well, i guess not.

Well, good luck. I'm sure you'll make it. Keep me posted, k? Thanks

I will absolutely keep you posted. I hope the wait isn't too bad for you. I am facing similar situations, for the rn program, there are 130+ complete applicants, but only 48 seats.

I have heard form a friend in the lpn program that it is pretty intense, so if we are both lucky, we will both go crazy in our programs!

I know for the rn program they shortlisted the applicant to about 90 for interviews, did they do the same with the lpn program?

What areas interest you in the long run?

:cheers::stdnrsrck:

I also wanted to comment about not getting in. This is my second attempt to get in, and I did not make it to the interview process the last time. When I called about not getting in, they suggested that my GPA was too low (2.67), and that I should retake some classes. So I did, and this time I made it to the interview process. They are really great, so if you do not make it, they will tell you for sure what you need to improve on.

Yeah, i'm not totally stoked about the long wait and the intensity of the program:cool:. We pretty much will have 'no life' during school :(. In my case, i think my GPA is fine (4.0) but i kinda screwed up with the essay. I wasn't prepared when we were asked to do it (during info session). I guess i got so nervous  that i re-wrote it 3 times. I mean, how stupid am I? I was concerned about the erasures on my essay. Anyway, I only got to 2nd paragraph, and i'm positive that's going to affect my chances. I just have to redeem myself in the interview....that's if i don't screw up again:D.

So, I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us. If i don't make it, I'd hate to have to take Math classes again:cry:. I only passed because I had a tutor. Good luck. We'll keep praying :o.

So I don't have anything new to add, but I read somewhere on this forum a few suggestions about what to wear to a nursing school interview. Mostly it was general knowledge, but they suggested to wear a light perfume. Seriously? I couldn't believe that haha. Everyone knows there is a no scent band on all hospitals, bad idea lol. How you hanging in?

Hello! Yes, I've been reading some online tips on interviews as well. Yeah, about the perfume...it does sound ridiculous especially for the interview. That shouldn't affect the chances of getting hired. When I volunteered in a nursing home though, i was told to only wear light scented perfume as well. I guess it's because some residents have scent allergy issues.

Right now, i'm just hanging in there. I'm also looking at other programs like OT or PT which I'm also interested in. Problem is, all the nice schools are way too far for me. I live in Abbotsford.

How about you? How you hangin' in?

I was doing well mostly, but now my interview is 2 days away, the butterflies are flying overtime. Fortunately I have work to keep me busy, but my down time, which is quite a bit, is when my mind drifts. I think allnurses.com might be making it worse, I tend to read stories that similarly affect me also, or I can relate to. I am sure I will do fine, but nerves still flare up once in awhile.

I currently live in Chilliwack.

So what is your story, why have you chosen nursing?

Niki

I'm sure you'll do fine :) Although, I know i'm gonna freak out when my turn comes. I'm also busy with work.

Nursing is such a great job that's so much in demand. Of course, I'd like to graduate and get my license and then be assured of a job right away.

Good luck, girl! I'll be praying for 'ya :)
