i am about to enter the HoHoKus school for lpn soon. I am wondering has anyone attended the school and graduated. I have a few other questions, such as the classroom enivirionment, teachers, students and was it worth your money?
I don't know if that is true about the cost. If it is, then maybe it would be worth it. You seem like you want to get started as soon as possible so maybe you should try the Medical Assistant program. I was very eager to get started too which is why I am not waiting for an RN program. Let me know what you decide....!!
Hi Dawn674,
I spoke with mr.Norton from admissions office about tuition. Both combined courses, ''Medical Assisting and LPN (2in1)(20 month) will cost me 19.600$. So if i want i can start from Jan,25th
On the other hand..
I can choose now from two schools. One is the HoHokus School and another is The Center For Allied Health Nursing Education in Hackensack. They have a LPN program starts Feb, 25. Tuition for 16 month course would be 21.600$
If you were me what would you choose?
Thank you again for your time
I would go to Ho-Ho-Kus school... I have already been to orientation there and it seems like a really good school. Plus I know a few people who have completed the LPN program there and they all loved it. They are also starting an RN program and former LPN students get first chance at attending. I don't know much about Allied Health in Hackensack. Check out their NCLEX results as that usually tells you how the program is. Also, where do they do their clinicals? Also, do they have a night program or just day?
HI,
I am quite sure about going to HoHokus School.
Just for me it will take much longer to get there then to Allied Health..but i guess it's still worse it.
I did some reserch as you said and here is some information about NCLEX pass exam:
The Center for Allied Health and Nursing Education - 78.26% (They do have an evening class as well)
HoHoKus School of Business Medical Sciences - 81.53%
Clinical for Allied Health is:
Bergen Regional med center
Neighborcare Childcare center
Children's Specialized
Regent Care Center
Wellington Hall
Woodcrest Health Center
Chateau at Rochelle Park
Plaza Regensy
Do you know if this is a good places to do clinics?
Thank you so much for all your help!!
Those clinicals seem decent. HoHoKus also does their clinicals at Bergen Regional. One advantage for you would be that once you become a Medical Assistant, you can work in the field while you are pursuing your LPN. I became a CNA so that I can do the same. I am currently looking for a CNA position now. My best advice for you is to compare all the pro's and con's and see which school comes out on top. Are you interested in a day or evening program? I am attending the evening program so my schedule is M-Th 5:30-10 and clinicals are on some Saturdays from 7:00 am-4. Does that work for you? Also, HoHoKus school may be a little further but keep in mind that Hackensack is a very busy area and there is always traffic and parking issues. It's also not the nicest area around. HoHoKus is right off Route 17 and it has it's own parking lot. It is also located in Ramsey which is a very nice area. Does the cost at Allied include books? HoHoKus does as well as scrubs and malpractice insurance....FYI.
Hi Alex;
I suggest you to take the Medical Assistant first and then the LPN. It will be better for you because if you have to take 5 courses for one semester it gonna be to though for you. I am doing my second semester now for the lpn and I only have to go to school 2 days a week.
Don't think about the money because you won't regret if you do it that way.
Good luck man!!!!
So i plan on attending eastwick in november, which seems far away. I go to a communiy collge now. I work as a medical asst in new york in an ob/gyn and i am so excited to do nursing. I just have a few questions. I know the program is going to be hard but can i work like 25 hours a week and go to school at night, and do well? I a have an audio memory which means 82 percent of what i hear i instatly remember which has helped me alot in school since i havent studied since like 2nd grade but i will defitanty be studing for nursing. Are the boards really hard? Are the teachers helpful? are the clinicals intersting? Well i get alot out of it? is there and mandatory externship? is it a paid externship? how many months is it? what is an lpns normal salary. please answer.
graduated from Eastwick (top of my class, woohoo!) in October 2009. I did the day program. I didn't really work at all. You have A LOT of reading to do. Get a recorder too. I loved Eastwick. All of the professors are amazing and really care about their jobs and helping you succeed.. as long as you are willing to help yourself. No externship. LPNs make between $21-$23 starting salary in NJ. You have to take HESI which as long as you do well in your classes and focus, you will pass. You get 3 changes otherwise you have to sit through a 12 week review course before you can graduate. I took NCLEX and passed on the first try as well. Just apply yourself!
Email me if you wanna talk more :)

Dear friends,
could you please tell me if it is a good idea to do medical assistant course as a bridge to LPN course?
That is what i was offered at HoHokus school at Ramsey in order to skip a line to LPN and get both diplomas in 20month.
Thank you
