I am currently attending Eastwick (formerly Ho-Ho-Kus school.) The LPN to RN program is for LPN's with 6 months experience working as an LPN. The cost is $31,000. My advice.... look elsewhere.

Those clinicals seem decent. HoHoKus also does their clinicals at Bergen Regional. One advantage for you would be that once you become a Medical Assistant, you can work in the field while you are pursuing your LPN. I became a CNA so that I can do the same. I am currently looking for a CNA position now. My best advice for you is to compare all the pro's and con's and see which school comes out on top. Are you interested in a day or evening program? I am attending the evening program so my schedule is M-Th 5:30-10 and clinicals are on some Saturdays from 7:00 am-4. Does that work for you? Also, HoHoKus school may be a little further but keep in mind that Hackensack is a very busy area and there is always traffic and parking issues. It's also not the nicest area around. HoHoKus is right off Route 17 and it has it's own parking lot. It is also located in Ramsey which is a very nice area. Does the cost at Allied include books? HoHoKus does as well as scrubs and malpractice insurance....FYI.

I would go to Ho-Ho-Kus school... I have already been to orientation there and it seems like a really good school. Plus I know a few people who have completed the LPN program there and they all loved it. They are also starting an RN program and former LPN students get first chance at attending. I don't know much about Allied Health in Hackensack. Check out their NCLEX results as that usually tells you how the program is. Also, where do they do their clinicals? Also, do they have a night program or just day?

I don't know if that is true about the cost. If it is, then maybe it would be worth it. You seem like you want to get started as soon as possible so maybe you should try the Medical Assistant program. I was very eager to get started too which is why I am not waiting for an RN program. Let me know what you decide....!!

I think that is going to be very costly and if I were you, I would wait to just go right into LPN. I am starting the program this month. When I applied I was told I may be able to get in sooner which is exactly what happened. Good luck and maybe I will see you there!!

Thank you all for your great advice! My struggle is not if I should become a Nurse, it is the whole LPN/RN thing! I have come to terms with my plans and I am doing the LPN route. I am happy with my decision and can't wait to start!

I completely agee with you and would never base such a huge decision on online boards only. It is also people I know and speak to. Becoming a nurse is in my heart and I know I have a lot to think about.... Thank you for your feedback!!

I am supposed to start school in August to become an LPN. I have always wanted to be a nurse and I was very excited about it... that is until I started reading online blogs. All I hear about is how there are no jobs, they can't work in hospitals anymore, LPN's are not "real" nurses and the nightmares of working in LTC. Occasionally I will read a positive thread which I always enjoy but the majority is so depressing. Needless to say, I am now reconsidering my decision. I have wanted to become a Nurse for so many reasons and one of them is job security. But after coming online I am extremely discouraged. I guess these difficult economic times don't help very much either....

I also am doing the LPN to RN route. I also questioned if this was the best way for me to become an RN but in the end the endless waiting lists made this the way to go. I'm excited about becoming an LPN and I think it's a great way to enter the nursing world.

Does Holy Name School of Nursing have a night program for part time students??

Why did they kick them out of Valley??? And does Holy Name have a night program? Just looking for some positive feedback.................

Hello everyone... I am new to these boards. I am starting the LPN program at Ho-Ho-Kus school this Fall. I recently took the NET test and did very well on it. I was nervous because math is not a strong subject for me but I passed. If I can do it, so can you! I will be attending the evening program as I have to work during the day. For those of you who have graduated from there.... Are clinicals every other Saturday or every Saturday? Where do we typically have them besides Bergen Reg? How difficult was it for any of you to get hired after you graduated and was anyone able to get a position in a hospital? Thanks for any comments! :wink2::wink2:
