How can LPN/LVN graduate from the Philippines be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN? What are the requirements?

well here in the pi they are offering pn courses for 1 year and 6 months or 2yrs maximum. the school fixes everything after finishing the course and after that you are to take nclex exam but after passing that exam still m not eligible to work as pn because im not an immigrant nor a citizen in the u.s. this s not what im expecting coz the schools here in the pi wud tell you that ater finishing the pn course and pass the nclex you can work in the states... this is a false information....... i just found out after wasting my time, money and effort studying pn in the pi and took the nclex exam that i cant work as pn cz m not an immigrant nor a citizen..... i thought i can save by studying in the philippines and taking the exam in the states but everything is a mess!!!! since promises from these schools are all false information.... dont dare study in the pi i ur not an immigrant or u.s citizens

hi,

i have been conducting a research on http://www.allnurses.com, and come

accross with the forum that states, lpn graduates from foreign countries are

eligible to take nclex-pn but cannot be granted a visa to work in us

unless you are a citizen or a green card holder.

is this true?

your prompt response is very much appreciated.

thank you.

the issue is that for immigration you must have rn, i would imagine if you went to the us via marriage/fiance then there is a possibility that your lpn training in the phillipines may be of use.

i just think it is a shame that some people are taking advantage of others yearnings to move to the us making promises that are not true costing lots of money

I've read a lot of threads here about LPN graduate not able to work or hired to work in the US unless with a legal status(US citizen/green card holder). Or you can be hired unless or get sponsored if you have an RN degree instead.

My question is what is LPN-RN? Is this also offered in the Philippines? Any suggested accredited schools that you know of? If you have LPN-RN- will you be avail the green card sponsorship?

Thanks a million.

regards.

There is no LPN-RN, that is the name of a bridge program to get the RN. The thing is that you will have the RN after your name, the LPN designation is useless to you unless you have a visa that permits you to work. From the Philippines, you will need to have the RN after your name, and the only route that is available is the BSN. Suggest that you complete the rest of the schooling to get that. You may be able to find a program that will accept the schooling that you have and let you continue on.

But as long as there are students that are willing to pay for the schooling that they cannot use in the US for immigration purposes, these schools are going to continue to exist.

Always do your homework before attending any program and make sure that the program is accepted in the US for licensure, as well as immigration issues.

What if a person was to graduate in the PI as Rn and take the nclex-rn in the states using tourist visa as a means of entry, would the application be voided and wouldnt the hiring hospitals facilitate the immigration papers once hired?

Not a smart idea with the immigration currently as it is for multiple reasons.

1. There are no visas available, so no way to work legally.

2. You need to be in the US for three months before the process could even be started, and that is if there were visas available.

3. Most are unable to live in the US for five months without any income coming in.

4. Work illegally and you could get deported for ten years minimum.

5. Actually illegal per US immigration law to come to the US with a dual purpose of staying and not returning home.

Please take the time to do some reading here. And in the future, please stick to the topic that is being discussed here, the LPN role.

Use the other threads for RN issues. But this has already been discussed multiple times.

What if for example you finished BSN fron outside the US and you have a tourist visa and you go the US, you did not pass NCLEX RN so you were just planning to take the NCLEX PN. Can you be petitioned by being an LPN?Specifically an LVN in California? Can you apply for the H1B?and change status by using your LPN license?

you cannot work in the us if you are under tourist visa. that's a big no no! pls. don't do that, that will be a career suicide!

Also to add to previous post. For immigration you have to pass RN not PN and H1b is not for nurses and next file for them in April and expect them to have all gone within hours.

This is total suicide where immigration is required also not fair on everyone else waiting patiently for visas to move

Imigration requires that you pass either the CGFNS exam or the NCLEX-RN exam. Without one of those being passed, you cannot work in the US as a nurse. There is no one that can petition you.

That you have a BSN from your country does not get you anything if you have not passed either of those exams.

And do not even think about a tourist visa and being able to work in the US. There were just 300,000 petitions submitted over these past few weeks, and they only issue 140,000 green cards per year to those under the EB-3 category. There are going to be many that are going to be denied. And right now, just with the idea of taking cuts in front of others or that you would even consider it, does not sit well with any of us.

My other co-moderators here have been waiting for sometime, and have done things the correct and legal way. You need to do that as well.

hi there micdelrosario, I was just wondering what school did you attend to for the LPN program that they have back there in PI? Is it the one called KRC or Kennedy Review Center or did you attend somewhere else? thanks...

That school did not exist when he completed his program. You are going to find verey few here that have gone thru that program, as there are very few that already have a green card or US passport. Otherwise that program is a complete waste of time, just as Mr. DelRosario has found out. And too late for him and the others.
