How can LPN/LVN graduate from the Philippines be eligible to take the NCLEX-PN? What are the requirements?

Thanks PinoyNP for the info you sent me. My employer is in New York.

Hi! I am doing some research for my brother who is about to graduate from a PN course in the Philippines. Since PN cannot be sponsored by an employer in the U.S. Does anyone know what country gives work visas to PN graduates from the Philippines? Canada, Australia, UK, New Zealand, etc.?

Or does anyone know if BSN schools in the Philippines will credit subjects taken from PN courses?

let me guess your bro graduated from KIS? well, i called up a couple of BSN schools and there not accepting any of my past subjects. dont belive on that ladderize system bec its rily up to the school to have the last say on crediting your subjects. unless your transferring from a school under CHED. with the petition thing....im pretty sure canada does not petition PN. just out of curiosity, what convinced your bro decide to study at that PN school?

No country will give immigration to the LPN graduate, it is not recognized as a professional degree in any country, strictly technical.

The Philippines does not even recognize that license................it is completely useless, and shame on the scam programs for offering it in the first place. It will not help with working overseas, they fail to tell you that.

Unfortunately, my brother did not listen to me when I told him a year ago that there was something wrong with the info given by the school. I am an RN and familiar with the immigration process for nurses . When I present myself as a potential applicant of the LPN school(not telling them that I am an RN already and on the process of filing my I-140). They gave me a lot of info that will make someone who is not familiar with the process believe what they are saying.

When I told my brother, he did not believe me but instead believed the school and went on with his enrollment. Now I am trying to tell him not to take the NCLEX PN when he graduates since it would be useless and a waste of money but still he does not believe me.

a suggestionn i would give is to take RN for your bro and make a written complaint againts that school he was at. try to get a full refund if you can so if he decides to take RN then atleast it would compensate to his cost. thats what im trying to do now is to get that refund if i can.

In response to your post above, the Ontario LPN is a two year program, they will not accept a one year program, even if it is done directly in the US.

Even as a Canadian citizen, and if you trained in Michigan, just across the Detroit River, the LPN is not accepted in Ontario.

hi suzzane....whats your best suggestion for me, i was thingking of going to a trisem bsn school but since you told me its gona undergo intense scrutiny then instead i thought of 2semestral school which normally is being offered here in the philippines. the bottom line is i jst wana study RN, take the provincial exam and work in vancouver canada. im just not rily sure of what type of semestral system i should chose? tnx and merry xmas

Trimester or semester is not the issue but that you have gone thru the number of required courses to get the BSN in the first place. And have time to do that. There are schools in the Philippines that have 55 hours per semester and that is physically impossible, you just cannot be in lecture and in clinicals at the hospital at the same time. Those programs are currently being investigated.

You need to make sure that it is an approved and legitimate program. Just because they pay someone to get them a license as a school there, does not mean that it will meet US standards, or for immigration purposes.

Unfortunately, you already found that out the hard way.

Hi!

I'm just interested to know what's the 55 hours per semester that you've mentioned. Can you please elaborate what it is all about. Thanks.

There are some programs in the Philippines that essentially were highly accelerated programs, the students were registered for 55 hours per semester, and many of the hours overlapped when the transcripts and schedules were evaluated by officials. They were not able to attend lecture and be at clinical in a different part of the city at the same time, and they were considered to have falsified documents per CGFNS.

Not naming the schools here.............the ones involved are well aware of this matter. And it was in all of the newspapers over there, and discussed here in the past.

Average credit hours per semester are usually in the 15 or 16 hour range............not three times that.
