Thank you for your interest in Indiana State University's distance programs. The LPN to BSN program is a bachelor degree-completion program via distance learning .
Please visit the College of Nursing web site at http://www.indstate.edu/site/nurs/891.html for further information about the LPN to BSN program.
ISU has an exclusive contract with The College Network so as to provide the study guides for the initial phase of the program. There are three phases to the LPN-BSN Track.
Phase I are Gen Ed requirements that will need to be completed with The College Network or a local college in your area. When acquiring Gen Ed requirements, 50 credit hours need to be at a 300 or 400 level course. Some of these courses are available at ISU. If you have a previous degree, some or all of the credits may transfer into the College of Nursing. After completing Phase I you then apply to ISU http://www.indstate.edu/join_us/admissions.htm. You will then fill out a second application with the College of Nursing http://www.indstate.edu/site/nurs/pdfs/con-admission-application.doc
Enrollment requirements include: (due by Nov 1st for Spring Semester) (due by June 1st for Fall Semester)
Send all the below Supporting Documentation to Kim Cook by FAX or MAIL:

This post is from 2006 - web sites aren't correct any more...so other info may be outdated also...you may want to start at http://www.indstate.edu/lpn-bs/ for current info.
I researched a lot before I subscribed to TCN and even after I signed I still had doubts. But I've checked the DANTES and EC websites and you still have to pay for their study guides anyway. The books are extra. I'm satisfied that there's only one company that takes care of everything for me, even locking the rates at the time I signed. There's also tutoring available. You would still have to go through TCN to complete the 4 CSM's required for ISU. I've told everyone who asked me about working with TCN that they definitely DO NOT have to use TCN to complete GE requirements, if they can wait and do it at a CC in a traditional semester setting. I personally chose TCN because I can complete a course as fast as I can. I'm going by a very strict deadline :zzzzzGoodluck to future ISU students! :typing
RDelaney...are you still attending ISU or have you finished?....how did you challenge the four prerequiste...
Nursing 106: Mental Health Aspects of Nursing (2 credit hours)
2) Nursing 224: Nursing Care of Adults (5 credit hours)
3) Nursing 328: Nursing Care of the Child and Family (4 credit hours)
4) Nursing 330: Nursing Care of the Childbearing Family (4 credit hours)
OMG, how awful. I agree about the clinicals. That is why I would like to go to ISU. There is no one weekend pass/fail clinical. Besides I like the fact you will have a BSN upon completion. I am now trying to finish up the last few pre-recs. now. I have algebra, A&P 2 and micro left. Of course I would like to clep and test out of all. But I think I will be using going online for Algebra.
Are you still doing the ISU program? and if so ...are you close to the Fresno, CA area...or is there anyone reading this in Fresno that is attending ISU right now that can partner with me in completing this program pls...
i am in the los angeles area, studio city to be exact. i will be starting in the spring as i have already signed up for the sciences at the local cc. i am scared about doing online classes when you need the clinicals and may not be able to find preceptors on time for these clinicals. it would be good if people in the la area who are doing this course could bond together.let me know if anyone wants to bond with me, i love to study and would be grateful to get any information on preceptors in this area.
did you start the isu dl spring 2011 lpn to bsn program? if so, we may be in the same cohort group and live within 10 miles of each other,
:nurse:Has anybody graduated from this yet? If so, do you attend a graduation ceremony? And what does your diploma say? Indiana State or Sonoma State (Im in California).
I am meeting with the rep this coming Tuesday, and I had already met with him before I passed my NCLEX. I live in Los Angeles, SFV area. If anyone can give me some pointers or would like to start a study group/ support group please message me so we can get in touch.
has anybody graduated from this yet?
if so, do you attend a graduation ceremony? and what does your diploma say? indiana state or sonoma state (im in california). once you graduate from the sanoma state/isu lvn to bsn program, you would have a diploma issued from isu. sanoma only comes into the picture when the calif bon nclex paperwork must be submitted. i and a few others in my calif cohort group are considering going to isu for graduation. don't know how many others will actually make the expensive trip to walk across the stage at isu.
i am meeting with the rep this coming tuesday, and i had already met with him before i passed my nclex. if you are in the valley, you will be meeting with the college network's salesman, bryan. be prepared for a hard sell by bryan to push toward signing up for the tcn program. there has been much discussed and written on allnurses about tcn and their sales tactics. review what is written and be educated about tcn and whether you want to sign up with them. bryan is employed by isu and the only true info you will receive is after you submit your transcripts to isu to be evaluated and receive a dars (transcript evaluation of what classes transfer to the iisu program, and what classes you need to take to be admitted and/or graduate from the progam) in return. before you meet with bryan, go to the isu lpn to bsn website and read the requirements for admission, for the challenge exam, and for graduation. be knowledgeable before you meet with bryan, tcn's salesman for the sfv.
i live in los angeles, sfv area. if anyone can give me some pointers or would like to start a study group/ support group please message me so we can get in touch.[/quote] again, much has been written about passing the challenge exams, what books to buy (other than the tcn study guides costing approx $525 each), the info that the challenge exams cover, etc. you may want to review posts. we also have a calif lvn to bsn thread because there are two lpn/lvn to bsn programs--one for calif residents (aka the sanoma state/isu program) and another for non-calif residents. the calif program is slightly different from the non-calif resident program. if you want to meet or talk, feel free to conact me.
oops, error. sorry...
