Thank you for your interest in Indiana State University's distance programs. The LPN to BSN program is a bachelor degree-completion program via distance learning .

Please visit the College of Nursing web site at http://www.indstate.edu/site/nurs/891.html for further information about the LPN to BSN program.

ISU has an exclusive contract with The College Network so as to provide the study guides for the initial phase of the program. There are three phases to the LPN-BSN Track.

Phase I are Gen Ed requirements that will need to be completed with The College Network or a local college in your area. When acquiring Gen Ed requirements, 50 credit hours need to be at a 300 or 400 level course. Some of these courses are available at ISU. If you have a previous degree, some or all of the credits may transfer into the College of Nursing. After completing Phase I you then apply to ISU http://www.indstate.edu/join_us/admissions.htm. You will then fill out a second application with the College of Nursing http://www.indstate.edu/site/nurs/pdfs/con-admission-application.doc

Enrollment requirements include: (due by Nov 1st for Spring Semester) (due by June 1st for Fall Semester)

These entrance copies will be kept in your file at the College of Nursing/Student Affairs Office, 749 Chestnut St., Room 328, Terre Haute, IN 47809. All nursing courses are completed online. Even though the courses are online and self-paced, they are within the traditional Fall and Spring semesters and taught by on-campus faculty members.

Then clinicals will be done in the state where you reside, with a preceptor at a local facility. This link is the FAQ (frequently asked questions) for the delivery of clinical education for the LPN-BS Distance Education Track: http://www.indstate.edu/site/nurs/pdfs/faq-lpn-bs-clinical.pdf

how did you do this M & M 1985? I just finished my LPN program and I am now studying for my NCLEX coming up...I am not sure about what to do. I met with a counselor from the College Network and he gave me an outline program. I already received my first 4 year degree from a University in Washington and I am not sure if I have to take all this 6 foundational studies the advisor wrote..

Please let me know Thanks...I am planning to do the LPN-BSN online.

whatever you do, dont sign anything with college network. If you have a degree already, work directly with ISU. I did it. I will PM you. dont sign and dont pay anything.

i will give you my info for free this weekend.

.

Hi, I am need help. I would like to know where I can find the prerequisites in order to apply from LPN-BSN. I already have a bachelors degree and I am confused about whether I already fullfilled all my prerequisites or what else I need to take.

Go to the ISU nursing site for the LPN to BSN program. It will give you the info about prerequisites. The next step is to request transcripts from your college(s) to ISU admission. You will pay a $25 charge for admission and they will go thorugh your courses to see what you need to take to get into the program. This is the only way you have definitive proof of what classes will transfer, will will not and what you need to take to enter into the program.

I talked to one of the college network counselors and according to him I still have 6 classes left to take..I do not know what to do...please reply ASAP if you know anything about my questions

TCN is only a publishing company. They are not ISU admission counselors. If you already have a bachelors and transfer over to ISU with it, you will not need to take the bachelors gen ed courses--only the nursing courses. Of course, you still need the prerequisites for the nursing program--I forget what they are but normally the are science classes...anatomy/physiology, chem, psychology, sociology, micro biology...there may be more but these are the core classes that most nursing programs require.

Go to the ISU nursing dept website and look up the distant learning LPN to BSN program. Be aware: there are two LPN to BSN programs--one for California (which takes longer to complete) and one for all the other states. The classes are the same but for Calif students you can only take 1 clinical class a semester but the clinical liaison finds clinical placements for the Calif students. If you are outside Calif, you must locate your own clinical placement.

Can anyone that is currently in, or recently completed the ISU LPN-->BSN please PM me. I want to hear a bit about the program and your experience in it. Thanks.

Sunrock, could you elaborate on your post. I am a little confused as to which post you were posting to.

This is the Indiana State Univ LPN to BSN site. You mention EC and "EC have the same tutorials" and to read the exscelsior nursing... Are you discussing Excelsior College and their study guides. If so, the ISU study guides sold through TCN is not nor does it reflect the EC study guides.

WHAT SHOULD BE DISCUSSED IS THIS: one does not need The College Network study guides to pass the 4 challenge ISU exams. I should know, I am in the nursing program and took all the challenge tests.

It is true that TCN changes their ISU study guides yearly. However, ISU nursing dept publishes a list of objectives and areas that must be studied and may be on the challenge exam. That information is FREE and if one buys a nursing textbook for the subject (or a comprehensive stud and/or NCLEX guide) the same information is also included in those books. There is no need to buy any study guides; just cover the info that ISU suggests and save yourself at least $2100 in fees.

The TCN study guides are no magic bullet. You must cover the material and underrstand it. However, should a potential student fail the challenge exam on the first try, for the next attempt, the student must by the expesnive TCN study guide.
