I took the stair-step educational trajectory: LVN to ASN to BSN, and now I'm enrolled in a MSN program.
In the area where I reside, LVN-to-BSN programs require a minimum of 60 credit hours of prerequisite coursework before you can even apply. It would have taken between two and three years for me to complete all the prerequisite courses, then another two years of attending the LVN-to-BSN program.
It would have been a grand total of 4 to 5 years from starting the LVN-to-BSN prerequisite courses to actual graduation from the LVN-to-BSN program.
I'm a stair-stepper, also. I originally planned to go straight to a BSN program and therefore completed most of my prereqs over the course of 2 yrs, super part time.
Then I did a 1 yr LVN/LPN program, full time. Graduated and finished my final prereqs while working as an LVN/LPN.
As soon as my required 1 yr of experience was complete, I applied for the 1 yr long bridge LVN/LPN program.
I am scheduled to graduate this semester.
Total of 6.5 yrs. but keep in mind I only took 1-2 classes at a time at first. And had a semester or 2 in which I took no classes. I had a semester or 3 in which I took 11-13 credits also.
The LPN-to-BSN program at the University of Oklahoma can be finished in two semesters full-time only if all of the multiple prerequisite courses have been completed.I am looking for LPN-BSN bridge programs also, and found one at U of OK completed in 2 semesters full time or 2 yrs part time.
When you add the time it takes to complete the prerequisite classes, the entire degree plan takes about 3 years (plus or minus).

For those of you who bridged from LPN to BSN how long did it take?
