  1. Hi, unfortunately, Chem is not offered this Summer.
  2. I have 3 prereqs to take before applying to the LPN program. I'm taking 1 this Summer and since chemistry is not being offered in the Summer, I was hoping to take chemistry and A&P in the Fall. I tried registering for both but could not because chem is a prereq before I can take A&P. I will have to take chem in Fall and A&P in Spring 2017. This will set me back a year before I can enter the program. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
  3. I have 4 prereqs before I can apply to the LPN program. 7 prereqs before I can apply to the ADN program. I think I'll do the LPN first because clinicals are shorter and I figure I can work as a nurse sooner and get some experience and confidence before applying for ADN.
  4. Thank you for your response. I'm older and this would be a second career for me. Maybe taking it one step at a time will work for me too.
  5. For those of you who bridged from LPN to BSN how long did it take?
  6. Thank you all so much! I will consider everyone's suggestions.
  7. Thank you both for responding. All I have left are science classes. My advisor suggested that taking too many sciences at once can be overwhelming, especially if taken with A&P. Having to work full time doesn't help.
  8. Hi all, I have 4 prereqs to go. A&P 1 and 2, Microbiology and Intro to Biochemistry. I'm thinking of taking Intro to Biochemistry and Microbiology together (during the Summer) and taking A&P 1 & 2 one at a time (next Fall and Spring) because I've read that A&P should not be taken with any other class. This plan will take an extra semester to finish. Can someone let me know if this schedule makes any sense? I work full time if this makes any difference. I guess my definitive question is: Is A&P that difficult that I should take it by itself? Thank you!
  9. Have you considered CNA positions to get experience and your foot in the door? I know it is a step down but at least you'll be getting patient care experience.
  10. Hi all, I start my nursing program (ASN) this coming Fall. The program at my school is structured so that students can sit for the LPN after the first year and graduate with the ASN the second year. My concern is that I will not be able to work in a hospital because hospitals in Wisconsin are looking to hire MAs not LPNs. Since hospitals are looking for MAs, should I go for MA then RN? If so, how easy would it be to transition from MA to RN? I also have a Bachelor's degree in another field but the can't attend an accelerated program because the only one in Wisconsin is too far away and way too expensive. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.
  11. I did not know where to post this so I apologize in advance. I'm looking for a certificate program in Central Sterilization. There are jobs but I can't find anywhere schools that offer any type of program in NYC or Wisconsin. Is it part of another program? I've read that a program can run from 3 to 6 months depending on where you go. Does anyone have any information on such a program? Thank you! DMW
  12. Hi all, I have a degree in another field and I'd like to register for an accelerated BSN program. However, I need to work full-time as I am a single mom with no other income. Has anyone been faced with the same circumstances and able to make it work? I would appreciate any and all suggestions. I'd also like to know if I can take the pre-reqs and theory classes online. Thank you!
  13. Thanks, I've already looked into it.
  14. Hi all, I'm in the process of registering for a CNA program. The state requires that I have tuberculosis and Hep. B vaccinations. I'm unemployed and have no insurance. How do I go about getting them. Also, are they expensive? Thank you.
  15. Hi, I also have a Bachelors in another field. How long did you work at the hospital before they helped you with tuition? Also, why didn't you go straight to the second degree BSN instead of the Associates Program. Thanks.
