Loyola Chicago ABSN Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi guys,

I recently just got accepted to Loyolas' Chicagos ABSN program. The on campus (not hybrid option). I saw a few threads about former cohorts for this program, but none for fall 2018. I was just wondering if anyone else has been accepted and what they think of the program. I'd be moving from New Jersey.

Has one visited the campus yet? Any other thoughts, etc

That's frustrating that they can't disclose your place on the waitlist. I'm still waiting to hear if they'll even offer me a waitlist position, but it's one thing to be the third person on the list versus the tenth person. It can really impact someone's decision. I wonder if you can remain on the waitlist for the on site, but proceed with the hybrid program? My thoughts right now are to try and go for the hybrid program, but see if I get off the waitlist for on site if I get accepted. My advisor hasn't emailed me back since first delivering the news to me a few days ago, despite sending her an email with a few clarification questions.

If I were to go to Lewis and do their ABSN program I'd start this summer in their preterm, so the wait list will be cutting it close for me. I really just don't know what to do at this point.

@econtoRN I wish the best of luck to you and hope your advisor gets back to you asap! If you don't get a response tomorrow, try calling the office? It's irritating that they can't even disclose what rank you're on the waitlist...did not anticipate for this to happen. Also, I heard that the hybrid program has no waitlist so I'm assuming that those waitlisted can proceed to the hybrid program. I'm considering the hybrid program if I am not given a spot for the face-to-face program only because I want to get the ball rolling with my nursing career and don't want to waste anymore time!

Thank you. Hopefully you get off the waitlist. I think I'm going to attend Loyola if I get accepted even if that means going for the hybrid option. While Lewis has a nice program it is so far from where I live. I don't think I'd be able to make that commute for 2 years.

Just requested to switch over to hybrid. I don't want to delay starting this new career any longer and I do well with recorded lectures at my own pace anyway - if there is a student out there that has gone through Loyola Hybrid, please let us know how your experience went!

Hello! I was recently accepted into the hybrid program. I decided to switch instead of choosing waitlist option. After switching I was accepted within 48 hrs. Anyone else accepted to the hybrid program? I was told the only difference is that lectures are online. I am hoping to form study groups as soon a step possible to make up for the online lecture.

curious, where do you think you'd live for the program? as in town or area?

I just received notice that I was waitlisted officially. Now I'm conflicted again about if I should switch over to the hybrid program. I wish there was an option to stay on the waitlist, but hold a spot in the hybrid. I understand why they probably aren't offering that option, but it sure would make my decision a lot easier.

I decided against the Hybrid program only because I don't think the online education is worth the 42k price tag.

That's fair. So you're just going to take your chances on the wait list? Did you apply anywhere else?

Yeah, my back-up is Emory, which I already got accepted to! Loyola is still my first choice so if I get off the waitlist that is awesome! But if not, I'll just go to Emory. I also applied to OHSU in Portland and Duke.

Congratulations! Emory is a really good school also. Everything is still up in the air for me with the wait list, so I panicked and just recently applied to DePaul for their MENP program. I have to stay in the Chicago area, so this wait list really has me stressed right now.

I got waitlisted for the hybrid program and they won't let me know about the final decision till May 22nd. Which is way too late. Good luck for all of you. I am considering other schools!
