Lowest GRE to get in CRNA program

Published

Ok I have look this site for the GRE scores. I have been dazzled by those of you that have 1200 or better on your GRE. Please someone tell me the lowest GRE that you are aware that has been admitted. Let's make this a contest, we will call it LO GRE!!!!! Who will be the winner?. All kidding aside, I have heard from several that 1000 is the general number or better to get in, but I have also heard from several that said...they didn't have that score. I would rather cut my left leg off as to retake the test. I have a combined of 890. GPA of 3.8.

Specializes in ICU- adults, Flight RN peds/neo.

1120, 5.0

Graduate Degrees, MS 3.77 & MSN 3.67

Accepted USAGPAN '09 (Army CRNA program)

......I retook the GRE in Jan.....and my score isn't great, but I did raise it by 29% with a few GRE books and an online course (3 weeks of studying).......1000 is the Army "cut-off".

I suggest retaking it.....it gives you more options

good luck

I generally here 1000 as your basic recommended. However, it all depends on the rest of "the package." Have you taken any graduate school courses previously? If so how did you perform? Some schools make overlook the lower GRE if the rest of your app is stellar.

BTW... I was an 1100 with a 5 on the written

Let me just say that the GRE is one of the easiest steps in becoming a CRNA. If you really want it, you will gladly cut off both legs and trade them for a Kaplan test prep course and 3 months of studying to get a decent score.

I think it really depends on the school. Some weigh the GRE very heavily, while others do not. Call the schools you are interested in and ask.

O.K. I admit it. I got a 910 on GRE. I also was accepted to 2 well known anes. schools. I studied the GRE text inside and out and lived off of the CD for a few months. Did well on the math 580 and NUKED the verbal. got a 4 on the written. It was brought up in my interview and I quote, " Mr. !@#$% do you have a difficult time reading?" My only reaction was to laugh. We are all human. I think your 3.8 GPA speaks for itself. Good luck in all that you do. Gutz

Thanks for the honesty. I know of several who said well actually I didnt make a thousand and still got in.....They never say exactly what they got just that they didnt make 1000. I was just wondering.

i've been using a Barrons study book..Is the Kaplan better?

I've taken the GRE 3 times in the last 12yrs (for 3 different graduate programs). I sucked on the first 2 tests........only studied 2 weeks and took maybe "one practice test" (scored below 900)................Aaaagh, and therein lies the secret. TAKE AS MANY ONLINE PRACTICE TESTS AS POSSIBLE. Testing is all about time management. Seriously. This time I studied 3.5 weeks and raised my grade by 29%.

This last time around, I took the "Online Kaplan review".....it costs $600 and has 4 online tests......it is worth every penny.

Next, It was recommended to me by a "Military CRNA pharm instructor" to use the Princeton Review --"Cracking the GRE" (about $20.00). This book ROCKS. It is far better than the Kaplan book, easier to read and has the best tips.

Lastly, follow the instruction in the Princeton Review.......don't do algrebra, learn the tricks.....and I didn't read the comprehensive paragraphs, they were RIDICULOUSLY too long and would take too much time. The first 10 questions in the test are the most important in any section (so spend your time there) and for the written essays..........write like mad, fast, Fast, Fast and don't worry about spelling and grammer......it's about word count.

good luck

p.s. even if your school doesn't consider the GRE score important..........it feels good to know you can meet or exceed the base standard.

i got a 820 total took it once and got into a really good CRNA school. Gre is a worthless exam, but it depends on the school.

Hummmmmm,

My CRNA education is totally paid for AND I am getting a salary during school from a CRNA school ranked 2nd in the nation.......Yeah, I'll take that GRE ("A worthless exam") in exchange for a $200,000 education.......
