Lower Columbia LPN-RN 2021-2022

Nursing Students School Programs

I'm starting this thread, because I couldn't find one for this year's application process for Lower Columbia (LCC)'s LPN-RN program. Please share any helpful information! What are you using to study for the TEAS and Kaplan exams?

Hi Ashley, I applied for the RN-LPN online program this April. I passed the TEAS and Kaplan yesterday (87% for the TEAS and 83% for the Kaplan, putting me in the 96th percentile for the TEAS and 95th percentile for the Kaplan).  Right now, I'm waiting for the official acceptance notification, at least I'm hoping I scored high enough to get in.

As far as studying for the tests, I got the Mometrix book for the TEAS as well as some other study guides.  They were  OK, but I finally signed up with study.com and did their TEAS prep course, and also looked up videos on Youtube for A&P, Chemistry and math.  I also found a really great condensed TEAS study guide on etsy that was AMAZING and helped me absorb all the information.

For the Kaplan, I also went to study.com and reviewed their NCLEX PN course.  I found the Kaplan test pretty easy, even though I only got an 83%.  My internet crashed during the test and totally rattled me.  Pretty sure that's why I scored lower than I should have.

Oh, and I also bought the two TEAS practice tests from the ATI site and did them a few days before the exam just to get a feel for the questions and get familiar with the test layout.  I highly recommend doing that, the actual exam was very much like those practice tests.

Are there any others out there who are hoping to get into Lower Columbia's LPN2RN online or on campus program?

Linda,

You have awesome scores for the entrance exams.  I am sure you will not have any problems getting into the program with Lower Columbia.  Congrats!

I am hoping to be accepted into the program but struggle with taking the TEAS.  Crossing my fingers that I will be able to make a high enough score to be admitted into the program.

What were your scores on the practice exams?

Thank you Sunshine!  I'd been studying for the TEAS since January because I took all my math and science classes more than a decade ago.  I got a 93.3% on practice test B, but only a 73.3% on practice test C.  That freaked me out a bit, but I was also very tired when I took test C, and I got interrupted a lot too.  So the actual result is kind of in the middle.  I found the practice tests very close to the actual TEAS.

Also, are you trying for the online or campus option?  I can really only do the online option, and I know only the highest scores get selected for that, so I'm still nervous because people are still testing through July and who knows how many applied in total.  I feel confident, but still a bit anxious.

Hi Linda,

Like you, I am hoping for the online program.  I took both TEAS practice exams and scored in the low 80's.  I will be taking the entrance exams in the next few weeks and very nervous, but hoping for the best.  It sounds like there will be a lot of competition as Bev has mentioned there is usually around 200 applications.

Wow, 200 applicants, that's crazy for only 45 online spots.  Now I don't feel so confident anymore because I can only do online.  I know quite a few people who tried and didn't make the cut for the online program.  Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see until August.

Glad to see there is a 2021/2022 thread. I am applying as well for the online LPN to RN. I already took the TEAS and Kaplan and have been so anxious to see what scores everyone is getting. I heard acceptance is only based on the test scores and not on grades. Hoping my test scores are competitive enough to get me accepted ? (Also, has anyone heard of past cohorts getting acceptance letters prior to August 13th? That just seems like a lot of waiting time, hoping we hear back sooner)

Yes, I'm glad to see more people, too!  If you don't mind my asking, what were your scores?  I got a 87% on the TEAS and 83% on the Kaplan.  According to their websites, that puts me in the 96th and 95th percentile, but I don't know if that was based on the people who took the exams on the same day or before, and not the ones who take it later?  I was pretty happy with the results at first, but knowing how stiff the competition is for the online spots, I'm getting pretty nervous.  If I don't get into the online program, it's game over for me :-(.

I completely understand. I have to work throughout the program and don’t think I can manage a traditional in person program. Plus LCC is a far drive from where I live. I got an 84.7 on the ATI and 87% on the Kaplan. Does anyone know the average scores of people accepted in the past?
