No problem. The application did not open yet, right?

Hey guys, the applications are now open!! Good luck!

Specializes in EMT-B.

What are everyone's stats looking like for the application? I'm concerned that my GPA is too low at 3.3. I had a 3.1 from Undergrad a few years ago but went back to community college and finished all my prereqs with a 4.0. I've been working as an EMT for over 2 years and have well over 2000 hrs of clinical experience.

Hi, I'm concerned about mine as well. My undergrad GPA is a 3.0 but I currently have a 4.0 in my prereqs. From my understanding they take a holistic approach to applications.

Has anyone been able to submit their applications yet? I submitted but it isn't letting me pay the application fee. I messaged the Columbia Admission's office and they said they're actively investigating the issue. Has everyone else been having the same problem?

When I attended the virtual meeting this past Wednesday they mentioned the issue with payments and said they are working to resolve it.

Hi everyone! I hope you're all in great spirits and feeling encouraged. I had a question regarding licensure in New York as a current New Jersey resident. Does anyone know if I can utilize my potential license from Columbia mde/DNP program and practice in New Jersey? Or am I only allowed to practice in New York? Thank you so much for the help ?

Specializes in Psychiatric/Mental Health NP Student.

Hi everyone! I'm a current 1st year MDE/DNP student at Columbia and am more than happy to answer any questions you may have as you progress through the application process ? this forum was a huge lifesaver for me during my own nursing school application process.

These stats are absolutely OK and truly nothing to be concerned about - obviously GPA is a component of the application, but from my own personal experience and after talking with many from my cohort, Columbia truly takes a holistic approach when considering your application. There are so many little components to the application which can feel painstaking to complete at times... but these are perfect opportunities to highlight your strengths outside of coursework, your previous work experience (past medical work/volunteer experience is a BIG plus and will help you a LOT during your first semester here), and all the unique aspects of your life that make you who you are! In my opinion, these are the things that Columbia is most interested in.

The application process can be SO stressful and anxiety-inducing, but you all got this!! Don't forget to be kind to yourself, take time away from working on apps to enjoy life, and make sure to let your own personality, drive, and motivation shine through in your application materials! ?

Specializes in NA.

Hi everyone!

Undergraduate degree in Biochemistry. My stats are 3.9 science GPA and total GPA. I've worked the past year as a caregiver/ CNA and I'm a scribe in an ED in California. I'm nervous about even applying to this program it feels unattainable LOL. good luck to everyone ❤️

Hi!! Thank you so much for your insight. This application process has definitely been stressful but I have been taking breaks from it and trying to enjoy life. I do have one question, regarding the resume portion. Do you have any advice on what it should look like? I was wondering if if should focus more on anything I've done healthcare related and to omit any jobs that weren't.
