Look you are still young. If I were you just repeat some classes. I don't know what state you are in but I do know that in some states the GPA is the be all of admission into a nursing program.
Repeat some pre-reqs and take other classes to boost up the GPA. I am pretty sure by repeating one semester of classes you can push you GPA over a 3.0
I also messed up my freshman year, so I re took classes and took more classes to boost my gpa. I finished an associates degree in health sciences with a 3.26 and transferred to a university. At my new school I have a 4.0 and I'm applying to the BSN program now. You can bring it up if you focus on your work now that you know how important gpa is. You'll definitely want above a 3.0.
my gpa is 3.0 i have all my science classes done and my aa and i'm still on the wait list soooooooo just wait and wait until the school calls us for the rn program. rn programs will accept 4.0 gpas first of course then it will be down to the low gpa or you will be placed on the wait list for loonnng time and i have a good gpa. do not retake science classes it will just drop your points as a repeat class and it will be points off your score...good luck.
I am in the same boat you are in b/c i am also 22 yrs old and had a 2.6 GPA (i really had a 3.0 GPA but at Broward College (BC) they only accept 5 courses instead of all the pre-req's). But i had to do something to raise it up so I took A&P 1 (no lab had an A at BC), A&P2 (had a B at BC for lab), Chem for health sciences, and nutriton over b/c i had C's in those classes b/c i never failed a class. So i took them over(and more classes) at FIU which raised my GPA for applying to BC to a 3.2 GPA. SO just take them over at BC or MDC, not a private instituition b/c its to much for so little.
But I also applied to the LPN program at Mcfatter tech which is like a year program (probably less than a year for me b/c I have my AA degree from BC) so when i finish that i will go straight to BC to enter the LPN-RN program which is guranteed acceptance then from there RN-BSN. I really don't want to do this route but just to move forward without waiting and getting REJECTED AGAIN (for the 6th time), i have to. Maybe you can try this its just an option, and many nurses have did this route but I will not be working as a LPN b/c as soon as i get my lpn license I will apply to BC LPN-RN program then as an RN I will be working but at the same time I will be in the RN-BSN program @ FIU which basically online :).
Hopefully I helped because you and I are not alone, some of my friends are in the same boat too.
God Bless:rolleyes:
By repeating the science courses it did increase my GPA b/c BC, FIU, MDC, UNF, and other south florida schools accept them except central and north florida schools, such as, UCF, UF will not accept them but will add them to your GPA which will make your GPA even lower. TRUST ME, i applied to all but I am/will not give up. SO, I will just applied to Mcfatter for LPN for april or june and move forward from there b/c i just want to be in already:banghead:
BUT I AM STILL HOPEFULL:rolleyes:

Thats the same school I am trying to get in for August. They told me once you take a class thats it thats the grade that counts. It doesnt matter if you take it over or not. I am going to be applying with a 3.4 for the August class. I took English my first year of college and screwed up and got a C. I wanted to take it over again and they said no.

I wanted to add this question I'm not sure how many people are in the same boat, but i am wondering what are the options/schools that accept students with low GPA's?..I have completed all my pre-requistes and unfortunately my GPA is only a 2.7. I'm 22 years old and tired of wasting time. I really messed up my freshman year and did not understand how important GPA was until it was too late. Please any suggestion would help
