Louse or Tick?

Student found a tiny (and I mean TINY) bug on his paper in class. Teacher put it on a piece of tape and sent it down to the health office along with the student. Student is concerned it's lice because his sister has it. So of course I do a head check. Nothing. Examine bug under my magnifying glass. It's so darn small that I honestly can't tell if it's a newly hatched louse or a newly hatched deer tick. Thoughts? :wtf:

Thoughts? :wtf:

Tack it to the board.

*please note: I have mentally checked out. I really don't care what you do with the bug. If it were in my office, I would've flushed it :)

**additional note: I did not mean to sound rude with the "I don't care" I hope that you were not offended

I think if you can't find nits or live lice, you've done your diligence. You know what it's not (lice). A lot of times we know what it's not but we have no idea what it is...and that's OK.

Flea? There are lots of fleas around here right now.

I though maybe flea also! Too many tiny bugs with 8 legs. I just have no idea.

Not offended in the least. I'm pretty hard to offend. Don't know what that says about me. Hmmmm.

I disposed of the mystery bug. :)

Bed bug? Or my other guess is a very young tick.
