Maybe your preceptor lost it.
And who else was in the room?

i am so sorry this happened to you. what did the family say? will you see this patient again? it will be okay i promise. i can imagine how horrible you feel. i wish i knew what to say. i just want to let you know it was a accident and sometimes things get crazy and get lost. you don't mean it to happen .. it just does.. so please don't be to hard on yourself.
There were a lot of people in the room ...EEG,Echo,Techs,housekeeping ,Drs. .I'm hoping it's lost inside the bed somewhere,we could only roll him side to side due to the femoral arterial sheath in place & pt not responding well to stimuli .I'll be praying for the family's sake that we find it...I can't imagine having such a personal item lost .

I will pray that the wedding ring will show up prior to your coming back to work!
Ps. Had a patient put his wallet in the pillow case once and after discovering his wallet was missing we ended up having to go downstairs to the dirty linen depository and fish it out. Yuck!

I hope it turns up! It's a good lesson to everyone to take their loved ones' jewelry home when they are hospitalized...

I never removed a wedding band unless it was loose. An engagement ring yes but never a wedding band. Hope you find it.Woody

OR unless they were swelling and it would get stuck on their hands.

This is upsetting and I know you must feel terrible. I hope it turns up somewhere.

Any chance that a family member picked it up for safekeeping?
