Is there anyone else that was on that tiny list of students drawn in the lottery today? I was, and I'm so excited! :)

What do we do now, wait for something in the mail?

hey everyone, i'm a second year student at LMC, it sounds like you all are feeling the same way I was last year. Fortunately, the teachers you have are amazing and will explain everything the first day. I know its tough not to be overwhelmed, trust me I was there. The books you need for first year should be included in your packet, but here's a list of them just incase (not sure what the newest editions are though): 1. Fundamentals of Nursing- Patricia Potter, Anne Perry 2. Nursing interventions and Clinical Skills -Anne Griffen Perry 3. Pharmacology and the nursing process -Linda Lilley, Shelly Collins

Those are the books you will need for your first semester, for your second you will reuse your pharm book and skills but will need theses two: (again not sure what the newest editions are)

1. Medical-Surgical Nursing -Sharon Lewis

2. Maternity and Women's health care- Lowdermilk

Please don't be afraid to ask any of the second year students you see roaming the halls! We don't bite we are here to help each and every one of you! We were in your shoes a year ago and know how exciting/confusing everything can be in the beginning! Good Luck! see you all at the mask fitting!

If any of you have any questions feel free to email me

I have just landed in pittsburg from seattle and I'm trying to find something in a safe area. I don't mind doing a 45 min commute if needed. Anyone know the area ?

I would look into concord, pleasant hill, walnut creek. They will be a little bit more pricey but they are in a safer area and opposite commute traffic which is a big plus. There are nice places in Pittsburg as well but its not as safe as the 3 areas listed above.

Ashley,

Yay! I found a classmate! (I'll be one of the LVN-transition students) I'm looking forward to meeting the fellow 2nd years and LVN's. Are you apart of any study groups, or do you guys have a FB page or anything like that? Also do the professors allow students to record lectures? Thx for your help!

yay! congrats!!! Cant wait to meet you! We do have a facebook page for our class. We'll get everyone who is transferring over all set up on that the first day! We do have study groups, our class is really supportive of each other so most of us get together either over the weekend or after class and we set it up as we go along! The professors from last year did allow voice recordings I don't see why the second years teachers wouldn't mind. Were all going to be new when it comes to the way ------------- and ------------------ teach. We've had -------------- before for skills and we'll fill all the transfers in on how she's tests and what she likes and dislikes!

Hello, have you all bought your books and if so, did u get them at bookstore or online?

Not yet because I lost the list the gave us in the packet, but one of the posts above listed some we might need. Do you know if this is accurate ? I'll probably get mine from amazon

I went to the bookstore today to ask for a little clarity on the book situation. This is what the girl there said: the books are ONLY available in the bundles (e-book or e-book + actual books). On their website they list the book bundle as well as a few individual required books. According to her, those are redundant (they're in the bundle) and they don't even sell them individually.

I feel a little hesitant to buy all the books at once. It didn't necessarily sound like it saves you much money anyway. For me, I think I'll just look for first semester books online.

Also, if you are going to get them at the bookstore, they're not in until Friday (8/8), and she said to park as close as possible because they need to use a dolly to get the books out to your car. :D

So does that mean there are no used versions as the online store states?

The girl at the counter yesterday didn't seem to think they were available that way... but I'd be interested to hear if someone else gets different info. If they don't sell used nursing books, that would mean they also don't buy them back. That seems a little odd.

Can someone confirm the time and location for the mask fitting tomorrow? My boxes still have not arrived from Seattle
