Los Medanos for Fall 2011?

Published

Hello all, is anybody applying to Los Medanos CC for fall 2011. I just sent in my application with my fingers crossed:up:

the wait is killing me... =(

Hello all! A couple of more weeks and we should know something! What are you doing to occupy yourself? As for me, I landed an awesome internship at John Muir Hospital in administration in policy planning for my major at CSU East Bay so that and school are going to keep me busy for the next couple months:lol2:

I have to take finals early (this coming week) and will then be out of the country performing and teaching for the last week of May, so I should be pretty distracted until I find what I hope to be happy news from LMC!

Congratulations! What are you studying at CSUSB? Are you applying to their BSN program or just LMC? Your internship will help pass the time for sure! Just a few more weeks until you know. :yeah:

I am a Health Science major and I chose administration as an option. We have to do an internship to graduate.

I am applying this year to CSUEB. I would love to go to a CC though. They just raised the tuition 32% for fall:eek:. THe tuition has been increasing ever since I have been there (Fall 2009) while classes and professors are being cut. A bad situation all around:crying2:

I completely understand that. My original plan about 2 years ago, was to attend the Samuel Merritt program. But as I mentioned in an earlier post, over 50K for a 12 month program just did not make good sense. I already have a BS & MBA and just could not justify spending that much again. I am a little older than most of the applicants (I assume) and have to look at the economics and return on the invetment. The CC programs are so inexpensive compared to private programs. CSUEB has a good reputation for their BSN. Hope you get in to at least one of the programs you apply too. Good Luck! 2 more weeks and you will know.

So it seems like we should find out the end of this month or beginning of next. Does anyone know when orientation is scheduled for (or when it was last year)?

There is no formal orientation for LMC. If you get in, you will receive a packet with your info about physicals, immunizations, forms, etc. that you need to complete over the summer before school starts. The second year class will hold an informal meet and greet to answer questions or concerns and share our stories from first year. You will also then be able to place an order for your uniforms and get book info. Other than that, you will find out everything else on the first day of class ;)

Thanks for the information. Do you happen to remember when they posted the selection results last year? And how do you like the program?

It's usually the Tuesday after finals, which would be May 31st but I'm not positive. That's just how it was the last two years, as far as I know. I love the program; it's incredibly stressful and overwhelming at times but the staff is amazing and they really want us to succeed. Good luck!!
