Los Medanos for Fall 2011?

Hello all, is anybody applying to Los Medanos CC for fall 2011. I just sent in my application with my fingers crossed:up:

I know from searching old posts that you also got in to San Joaquin Delta before you got into LMC.

I was recently accepted to SJDC (hence why I saw your posts!), and I wanted to know if you had to pay for 2 background checks - one for SJDC (because it seems as though you thought you would be going there before you learned of the LMC results) and one for LMC?

The deadline for the background check at SJDC is this Friday, so it looks like I will have to pay for it, and if I should get accepted to LMC (my first choice school), I'll have to pay for it a second time for LMC.

I was just hoping that you might have some advice. It would be nice if I could pay for the background checks and be able to give the results to LMC if I needed.

FYI to all who are waiting. The lottery is being held on June 6th. The results will be posted at 5:00pm on all nursing room doors at the college. I had a long discussion with the individual in the nursing department and she mentioned this is also on the recording, should you call after hours. So, keep your fingers crossed! Hope this helps.

Thanks for that info!! A friend of mines had gotten in last year but due to numerous issues at home she ended up dropping out in the first semester. I really felt bad for her because she wanted it so bad, and after being rejected the year before, she was so happy she finally got in. They actually notified her 2 weeks before school started. Now she's in a good place mentally and away from all the stressors in her life, now she really wishes she would have hung in there. I know she would have made an awesome nurse.

NBB2013... The cost of the background check and drug screen is 91.00. Once you do the background, you only have 7 days to finish with the drug screen. VerifyStudents.com is where they have you fill out the application for the online background, once that is done, it automatically then gives you locations of where you need to get the drug screen. When you get your packet ("when" you get accepted, this information will be in there, along with the programs "code" which you need to include. I am sure K10RN2b*2012 can verify this as well.

Yes, I did get accepted into Delta, as well. I think that the dates must have been different last year because I found out I got into LMC before I had to pay anything for Delta. I ended up emailing and declining my spot once I found out about LMC. Do you have a preference where you'd rather go? Good luck to you :)

Good to know! I'll have to tell my friend who is in the lottery. I know for the people waiting, that still seems so far off. The wait just about killed me, I was so nervous the day it was posted...it was the longest day of my life!

It's usually the Tuesday after finals, which would be May 31st but I'm not positive. That's just how it was the last two years, as far as I know. I love the program; it's incredibly stressful and overwhelming at times but the staff is amazing and they really want us to succeed. Good luck!!

K10RN2b*2012, sounds like you enjoyed the first year. It will be nice to meet some of you at the "meet and greet" that they do. I have gone back and reread alot of the post from last year. The excitement starts early!

I just received a flyer from LMC saying that the lottery will be conducted on June 6 @5pm. When I seen the letter from LMC, my heart about hit the floor:lol2:

sooooo, for some reason, my letter from LMC says that the lottery will be conducted May 27.

Isn't that weird that our dates differ??? I didn't see the letter myself; my mom read it to me over the phone, so perhaps I misunderstood. Although, I just had her text it to me again, and she says it definitely says May 27.

Now that 2 people have stated it'll be June 6, I trust that. It would be nice, though, if my letter was correct! lol...maybe im hallucinating :smackingf:smackingf

It says," ALL STUDENTS ELIGIBLE FOR ENTRY INTO THE RANDOM SELECTION, YOUR STUDENT ID NUMBER WILL BE POSTED FRIDAY-MAY 27, 2011 @ 12PM ON THE ENTRY DOORS OF THE NURSING DEPARTMENT."

Then down further it says,"STUDENTS WHO WERE CHOSEN IN THE RANDOM SELECTION YOUR STUDENT ID NUMBER WILL BE POSTED, MONDAY, JUNE 6, 2011
