Hello All,
Starting a thread for all of you who have applied to Los Medanos for the fall 2015 ADN program. I submitted my application for the program back in February. I recieved a recipt saying that they recieved my app. Then last week I recieved a letter in the mail saying that all my pre-reqs have been approved and that they will make announcements as to which students get in I believe in May this year. Who else has applied? Any students that are currently in the Los Medanos program please feel free to leave any advice
Thank You
So i got a response back from beth this is what she said: It is required to take the ACLS (the BLS is included in the ACLS). When you initially get CPR certified for ACLS it is more intense and is usually at least an 8 hour course. This certification is required as you will be participating in clinical rotations whereas you will be assisting a nurse in an acute care setting with the care of a patient. I hope this provides some clarification and helps to answer your question.
Have any of you taken the acls course? Because when i look for it, it does not mention anything about the bls part being included. It just says its recommended to take the bls first to have the cpr background needed for the acls.
Got it. It does not say ACLS, but good good thing we got clarification because the paper says BLS.
I just renewed my BLS for a Healthcare Provider, but did not renew my ACLS certification.
There are some vendors that offer both classes in a package and you just pick the dates you want to attend.

Good afternoon,
There are combined classes for ACLS and BLS. Take a look at this vendor: Bay Area ACLS, CPR Classes and CPR Training - Welcome to Heart Start CPR.
Hope this helps.
