Hello All,
Starting a thread for all of you who have applied to Los Medanos for the fall 2015 ADN program. I submitted my application for the program back in February. I recieved a recipt saying that they recieved my app. Then last week I recieved a letter in the mail saying that all my pre-reqs have been approved and that they will make announcements as to which students get in I believe in May this year. Who else has applied? Any students that are currently in the Los Medanos program please feel free to leave any advice
Thank You
Greetings and congrats on the incoming RN c/o 2017 cohort! I'm a recent grad from LMC's RN program. Learned a lot, had a blast and you guys are most definitely in for a treat. We lost 2 amazing instructors at the end of the year, but finally got an awesome permanent program director so you're in good hands! I am here to help, so any questions are more than welcome!
Hi mm0828, ADN, LPN, LVNHow were clinicals like?
I'm excited and nervous at the same time.
Melissa
Hey Melissa,
I was an LVN-transition so I can only speak for the 3rd and 4th semester clinicals. The facilities change depending on availability for students; I spent both semesters at John Muir Concord campus. (I believe other sites previously used have been JMWC, Kaiser Antioch, CCRMC and Sutter Delta) My experience there was a positive one, as most (not all) of the staff were receptive to student nurses. Part of that experience was also due to my clinical instructors, but as any adult learner it's all in what you make of it.
I remember my first day of clinical I was absolutely terrified, and felt like I had no idea what I was doing. So if you're nervous just remember you're not alone, but don't at all be afraid to ask questions or ask for help if you're uncomfortable. =)
I did about a year of school nursing when I was accepted to the nursing program. I graduated 2013, so my skills were still fairly fresh in my mind, any longer and I wouldn't have remembered anything! They do recommend you cut your hours down to part time if you plan on working while in the program. I quit my job, but I was fortunate enough to have family/financial support so I could completely focus on my studies. It was tough even then, but if you're committed it's possible- you just HAVE to make the time to study!

In the nursing handbook it said we'll receive a packet after the TEAS but I didn't need to take the TEAS because I had taken it prior to applying to LMC. so I was just wondering how we would be able to obtain the packet containing those info.
