Has anyone applied (or planning on applying) to the RN program at LAHC college? Is there a waitlist that you know of? Any comments, tips, or general info on this school is much appreciated.
Thanks!

I look larger in mine as well, but I was too happy with the fact that I even have a uniform to wear to give a ****. Is your wife ok with hers? Hey does your watch have a sweeping hand????? I went to target yesterday but I didn't see any(though my search was really swift and inefficient because I was in a hurry). Did you all get your results from the background check??? Mine are complete, and pleasantly clean.
My wife looks really big in her uniform...
Here's the watch I'm getting... although it's not elastic it's expandable and non pathogenic. WatchesRetailer.com - Men's Timex Easy Reader Expandable Watch T20001 - Silver Tone
My wife got hers at target maybe it sold out? who knows...
yep my record also came up pleasantly clean.
I got my uniforms yesterday and the tops make me look like a clown and/or gangsta-cholo! I'm going to re-order to small sizes. Do you guys think that feature over function is irrelevant at this point? I totally listened to that lady that was in charge of fittings and she said medium was "better" because it's work and you want to be comfortable, but when I tried it on I was like FAILLLL!
haha, for reals... i might reorder mine also... i feel like i'm wearing jail clothes. i haven't worn these type of baggy clothing since i was in jr high.
the lady that did the fitting was more concerned of the length of our clothes... for example if we raised our arms up our stomachs shouldn't be visible. if i did switch out my clothes for a smaller size, i'm afraid that the clinical instructors will send me back home for not having properly fit uniform (length). i do believe the clinical instructors perform uniform checks.
@tigertjc
Damn!... I think your right about those uniform checks, good point! Perhaps I can check and see if they constantly do uniform checks for the first few weeks... hahaha. If they ask me to change to a larger size, then maybe I'll have a larger size in my trunk . Nah, I'm kidding. Have you guys got all your books yet? I'm still waiting for most of mine from the sellers on half.com
Its the fact that they use "media mail" as the form of shipping. I ordered a chemistry manual 2 years ago from a seller who shipped media mail...it came 2 months later. It sat in a pile at a postal facility in PA for weeks before it got put in transit. This was part of the reason I just went ahead and paid more at Amazon for these new books...media mail is a big NO as far as I am concerned. Oh and I hate my uniforms too
Yeah, the media mail situation happened with me once too...waiting two months for something to arrive. I started using chegg, but these books are probably something I will keep so I bought them from Amazon this time. The beauty of the large uniforms is we will all look large together! Yippie!
Hey gang!!--
I haven't posted in a while but just skimmed through some of the posts and wanted to catch up and ask a couple q's or even maybe answer some if you need...
I've pretty much have everything done on the "list" aside from shoes and watch etc. Regarding all the health exam stuff, I highly recommend going to the student health center--they are GREAT there and they know exactly how and what needs to be completed for us Nursing students. I also went to the Torrance health center for my Hep shots and that was surprisingly simple as well. If you still need books, I HIGHLY recommend going to Dealoz.com--it's kind of like the Expedia of textbooks--it compares the prices from several different websites so you're able to pick your price and the condition of your book. I was highly pleased with all the books I got--they look practically brand new. Got them all (15 books) for $327.00. I'm sure I'm a little late with all this info lol...
One of the biggest questions I have though is when you guys are referring to all the reading you have begun, which book(s) are you referring to. Basically, I would love some guidance/suggestions/tips as to what I should start reading. I'm gonna aim for about an hour or two of reading a day till school starts (aka, when we all have no lives :)...I read the posting that suggested starting at chapter 40, but what book was that? I know I can look it all up but I'd rather hear it from you guys because you may have some better "tips"...
Anyways, I hope everyone is having a great summer and I really look forward to getting to know all of you (by the way--do any of us "know" who any of us are?? I thought I might get to know who some of you were at orientation but I didn't...)
Heya, yeah go ahead and start reading chapter 40 (Potter & Perry (2009) – Fundamentals of Nursing 7th edition) first, then start reading the rest of the chapters in order.
you can get the reading list off the harbor college's website.... http://www.lahc.edu/classes/nursing/N313%20Reading%20and%20VideoDVD%20Listsp10.pdf that's the link... it will tell you everything that you need to know as far as reading goes.
Yeah, we are all pretty much stuck with each other for the next two years! We should get to know one another.
I don't know anyone from this forum... although it's not too hard to figure out who I am... my username says it all.

Anyone else unhappy with their uniform? The top makes my waist look like its a size 50 (literally, no joke) and I have a 30-31 inch waist. Not just that, it's made of polyester! I'm allergic to polyester. What to do...
