Los Angeles County School of Nursing and Allied Health - Fall 2019

Published

Hi there,

Has anyone applied to LAC School of Nursing for Fall 2019? I thought I would get this post going so we can stay informed and help each other through this waiting process! What are your points that you calculated?

As far as the "interview" I do not think its the typical interview we are expecting. I know that at another nursing school they called this activity an interview but in actuality it was a group activity/exercise where a problem/scenario is given to the entire group and they must work together to solve the problem. The faculty stands around and takes notes of how each person interacts with one another. For example, who takes the lead, who is more quiet and follows, how do each person communicate, etc. The written portion I am assuming will be the questionnaire they gave out to pass participants that consist of questions like why do u want to be a nurse, how do u manage your time, can u handle demands of program etc. Because it is only one hour it cannot be a typical interview. As far as clothes, I am going to call and ask tomorrow because if its this type of setting I want to wear scrubs. I do not "really" know if it will be like this, so do not get mad at me if its totally different, lol.

This information is very helpful, @duachangesthings. Thank you so much! Please keep us updated. ?

That actually makes sense. I know of a nursing program that does an “escape room” type of test for the group interview. We shall see! See you all on the 3rd. ?

Is this the first time they’re doing the interview? None of the previous terms mention it.

I spoke with director she said to dress business casual for the interviews.

I believe this is the first time because I looked up past posts to try to get an idea of how the interviews will be.

For those who didn’t get an interview like me for instance unfortunately, I called and pretended that I didn’t even know they were sending out emails already and they said that will send us email or send us mail about the interview. I still feel like it is a lie lol but I want to keep positive.

Are there any LVNs who applied for the generic RN program? I’m trying to figure out how they would consider my application since I am an LVN applying for generic RN? I’m hoping they could squeeze me in to the bridge instead of the two-year program.

Yes I have to go back for some shots and I think that’s about it. How about yourself?

Hi @Lpnurse323 would you mind asking them— are there any possibilities for the LVNs who applied for generic RN to still attend a year program instead of two-year? Unfortunately, my A&P course was completed few days after the LVN-RN application period ended.

Does anyone know if we will have to take a drug screen? I take a medication that results in a false positive so I want to get a note from my dr. I already have my clearance from hr and am picking up my badge in a couple days

I don’t think they will consider your application at this point. They will probably tell you to apply during the next LVN to Rn application. They are really strict with deadlines and application time lines. I am going be turning down my seat for the Lvn to Rn program that would be nice if they gave it someone else.

I am turning mine down too (LVN to RN). It does not look like we have a significant chance to get a spot for August start. I simply can't extend my unemployment for an additional 4 months. I'm bummed to have to do this since CONAH was my first choice however, I'm blessed that I have the opportunity to complete the Program at COC by June 2020 and this will open up a spot for another LVN here at CONAH!
