Los Angeles County School of Nursing and Allied Health - Fall 2019

Published

Hi there,

Has anyone applied to LAC School of Nursing for Fall 2019? I thought I would get this post going so we can stay informed and help each other through this waiting process! What are your points that you calculated?

I got an email yesterday for an interview. I have been accepted into another program and am unsure if I should do the interview anyway? It's a tough decision.

If you’re going to go to the other school you should decline the interview to open up for another student.

I haven't decided yet. County is my top choice program, but I have to give acceptance to the other school by May 15th. I won't if we will hear back before then?

I think we are supposed to find out by the 15th. My interview is May 3rd so I’m sure they will have all points & decisions soon after.

Retake some classes & apply again. Don’t give up! ❤️

I have a 3.5 GPA, I can’t retake any classes unless I have a D or F which I don’t have.. I’m guessing my problem is that I don’t have a bachelors which most have when applying to nursing programs

Do not give up! You have options. You could go to different school and retake your science pre-reqs to improve science gpa. You could also get your CNA and get some work experience to add to your application or volunteer with Cope Scholars or UCLA volunteer program and get volunteer hours in hospital setting. You could apply to LVN and bridge to RN program. For example, at Pasadena City College if you complete their LVN you can go straight into their RN program and are guaranteed admission, if you complete all the requirements for RN application and did well in the LVN program. Also, work on completing as many GE requirements needed for your BSN at the community college level. This will improve your overall gpa and look really good on your application for RN program and likewise help you when you go for your BSN in the future. There are always options, so no matter what keep the faith and keep striving towards making your goals a reality!

You can retake classes in another school even if you did not get a D or F

My stats are:

3.5 GPA, 80.7 TEAS, CNA, 250 hours of volunteering, and 2 associates

I thought I had a good chance but people keep telling me to get a bachelors so I think I’m going to get my bachelors and reapply since LVN applications have finished

but thanks guys!! Good luck ?

I would call and see if they possibly made a mistake because with your stats I do not understand why they did not email you.

I didn’t get an email as well so I guess I got rejected ??. I called them and they said they will be sending out emails throughout the week but I feel like that was a lie. So idk I will call today and see again what they are going to say

I dont think its a lie. There will be people that turn down the interview because they got accepted to other programs so they may invite others to interview as a result. The people that were given the first set of interviews have until April 29 to accept or decline so I am sure they will send out additional emails based on the responses.
