Hello my fellow applicants!

I'm a second time applicant to LACCONAH, I've been down this road once and came back with a lot of knowledge. From my experience this is going to be a waiting game so enjoy the ride! Y'all got questions, comments, concerns, information, don't be shy to engage. Estamos juntos en esto!

Hi there!

unfortunately no I was not invited to interview this time around. I had 82 points and from what I gathered the cut off was 84/86 points.
I believe every application period they just focus on points for that period so no I don’t think they count interview points from last time. I do think that since you were interviewed last they do take that into consideration but that’s it.

hope for better luck next time around! If I don’t get into Glendale I’m going in for round 3!

Thank you for all this info!

Hi there!

I suck at interviews too. The only questions that were asked were “why you want to be a nurse?” And “why you want to go to this school?”. But your not asked both questions. I’ll get into this more tomorrow.

Hello,

If you have time today could you please elaborate more on the interview process? I just wanna be prepared for it. Thanks in advance and thanks for all the info! Appreciate it!

Hello everyone!

so I was in the last interview process for Spring 2022 and here’s the run down and my experience. LACCONA invited about 75 to 80 people to interview and I was lucky to be one of them. I had 82 points and that was the cut off for an interview but people 86 points were chosen to enter the program.

You get 1- 5 pts total depending on how well you do. You will never know your interview points, for some reason they won’t tell you.

I believe every interview cycle is a bit different but this is the basic set up:

First is a written exercise, you will be given a prompt and then asked to write a short essay paragraph in 15 minutes I think.

Second you will be paired with your interviewer…THIS IS THE MAKE IT OR BREAK IT MOMENT. They are the ones who will be grading your paper. They are the ones who will be deciding your fate.
You will be paired with one or two people. don't LET THEM OUT SHINE YOU. Come prepared to answer why you want to be a nurse and why you want to go there and etc etc etc. You will be asked only one question!

You will then be given a test of some kind that will test your listening and instructional skill, this changes every interview process. It’s easy, if you don’t get this part I’m massively side eyeing you.

And that’s it! You are only there for 30min max! Now my experience:

For me it kind of sucked, because of the pandemic I was not at my best. I was awkward. But not only that my interviewer decided after a minute after meeting me he did not like me. Before he even questioned me I already had a feeling Im not getting in. He was pretty short with me and cut me off and eyed me up and down…many May think this was in my head but the girl I was paired with was made uncomfortable by his treatment of me.
Not only that he bragged how none of his students can get a job in LA without his approval, he was a real tool. If you get a tall, brown Latino man with salt and pepper hair yooooo…Im sorry in advance.
But when and if you get into the program he’s your teacher in semester 3 for telementry/ cardiology I believe. So be sure to kiss his *** for the entire semester because your future is entirely in his hands - according to him.

I know this sounds bad…but if your going to be a nurse you will be dealing with a lot of nurses with huge egos! Like for real I have an aunt who is a nurse and she has no business having the ego she has and so do her nurse friends it’s a little embarrassing.
I hope I didn’t scare you!! Just prepare really well. Get nice pants and shirts and blazers and do yourselves up very nice. Remember BUSINESS CASUAL! GOOD LUCK Y’ALL! YOU WILL DO GREAT!

THANK YOU  @Chuparosa22 for taking the time to explain the process!!

@Chuparosa22 I appreciate the amount of effort you put into this post. How many students did they choose last Spring from the 75-80 applicants interviewed?

@Dehvin hi there!

well do to the pandemic they only accepted 50 people. Usually it’s 60, I don’t know if they are going to continue only accepting 50 people or go back to 60. Hopefully it’s the latter this time!

@Chuparosa22 Thank you so much for all the information! You have no idea how helpful this was I really appreciate you!

I just called the school to ask how many students would be accepted for the Fall and was told, “we usually accept about 60.”  Good luck to us all! ????

Thanks for the heads up, and congrats! If you don't mind my asking, where did you decide to go instead?
