Los Angeles County College of Nursing and Allied Health - Fall 2014 Applicants

Published

Hello future nurses!

I am starting this new thread for everybody that is planning to apply to County's nursing program for Fall 2014. I am still waiting for their posting the information session date on their website; hopefully, it will not take long since the application period has already started. How many of you are planning to apply for Fall 2014. I am just finishing my last prerequisite and hope to apply by the end of December or beginning of January. Good luck to us all!

Cheers!

They received mine before Christmas. I guess that's why some people got their letters earlier, because their application was processed earlier. Don't worry, you'll get one too. There's no reason why you shouldn't since you have high scores on their point system.

It would be AWESOME to be able to get to meet you and smylee at orientation some day! All sharing the SAME anxiety and pressure!

Smylee and I already met at their information orientation in December :-). And I presume all three of us will be taking the teas on March 1st, so we can all meet there. :-)

Awww man! Now I am jealous you two already met! I will check the mail box every day and keep you guys posted. When I spoke with them Friday, I asked if we are allowed to take the TEAS at an ATI PSI center. They said yes, as long as they have the TEAS transcript by 4/1. The reason I asked is because I wasn't sure what dates will work best for me. Granted, taking the TEAS through PSI without waiting for schools to "invite" me will cost a lot more than just waiting. It just all depends when I get the letter and how prepared I will feel when the time comes. I just finished brushing up on the science section of the ATI manual. Starting the English and Language section this evening. Then, I have GOT to focus on math. Math scares me. I over analyze it! HAAHHA. What study guides are you guys using? I have heard the McGraw Hill TEAST V manual is pretty good also.

I am just studying their ati guide, I have no time for anymore books anyway. I actually like math :-), but it shouldn't worry you regardless of how you feel about it because we'll have only 34 questions on math, the rest is all English and Science (out of 170 questions). Just review some basic math. I'll have three weeks to review the ati book

Great perspective Enzyme!!! This is why we need this website, to remind each other to have in ourselves and have faith in the education system :)

I just re-read the completion rate info for County and it says that 43% (19 students) completed the program on time in two years, not 19% :)

Why would you schedule the teas at the ati center when you'll get an invite from county for sure. They have many application, they can't process all of them at the same time, little patience and the letter will be in the mail. And I believe that three weeks is plenty of time to review those English, math and science sections. You take one week for each :-). Do some practice tests and we should be good. There's no point in stressing, whatever happens, happens. :-)

Okay! Now thats what I'm talking about! Much better than 19%. YEE HAW! Thanks for the clarification. Checked mail yesterday, still nothing.

It will come. My friend just got hers yesterday. I think that they are sending them based on when the application was received. You def should wait until you get the invite from county. I'm not sure how much the teas test is through the ATI site, but it's $50 through county, which I was happy about, because I thought that it would cost over $100. I'm hoping that we get to meet on the teas test date :) like Enzyme said, three weeks is enough time, especially since you're almost done. I know that you are a lot further than me in the manual. I'm still in the beginning of the science section.

Thanks!!! Testing directly with ATI will cost me $115. The only reason i will test directly is of the dates on the letter do not fit my work schedule.

Oh that is completely understandable :)

Agreed...BUT, I definitely am not thrilled about the idea of the possibility of spending $115 for an exam. LOL. Still praying I just get my invite! I would feel so blessed.
