Hello future nurses!
I am starting this new thread for everybody that is planning to apply to County's nursing program for Fall 2014. I am still waiting for their posting the information session date on their website; hopefully, it will not take long since the application period has already started. How many of you are planning to apply for Fall 2014. I am just finishing my last prerequisite and hope to apply by the end of December or beginning of January. Good luck to us all!
Cheers!
Update: I called County. They said they mailed my letter a WEEK AGO! She gave me the testing dates and said if none of those dates work for me, I can schedule through an ATI testing center. YAY! So at least I have the approval to take the TEAS! She said if I don't get the letter by Wednesday to call her back and she will send out a new one. Okay, definitely time to focus focus focus on that TEAS manual! RELIEF that I at least know I am eligible for TEAS.
That is great! And, of course you were eligible for the teas. I am actually just going over those comprehensive tests from the book. That way I know immediately if I have any weak points and I learn from my mistakes. I think that's the best way of studying for the teas, at least for me. Going over that whole book is ultimately boring, and I don't have time for that. Tests give me the idea of what is going to be on real tests. And if i make mistakes or I don't know answers, I learn right away. So, when will you schedule your teas?

I never know anything for certain. With so many students and so few seats, I never really know! Im not going to be able to take it 2/28 so i actually just went online and paid through ATI today to take it at a PSI test center. I have to wait 24 hours before i can schedule. So i will know hopefully tomorrow when i can take it! I agree with your learning style. Studying that manual from front to back would be tedious. I thumbed through reading, then went to science, then to English, and i only have 4 more pages of math to review. My weakness is math (because i always ask "why") and i overanalyze. I have heard mixed reviews from people on the science portion. The majority say "just study the ATI book and you will be fine". It will work out how it is supposed to for al of us!

I think that when it comes to reading, no manual is of much help. You are either a quick reader or a slow one. That is what it will come down to, as we will get those looooong texts and we only have little over a minute to read the whole thing and answer the question, which I think is ridiculous. Everyone I know that took the teas said that the reading part was the most challenging one because you just don't have time. Ah, well, I don't even care as I don't like stressing myself. I'll just do my best and hope for the best. Que sera, sera :-)

Exaaaaaactly! Question, when you got your teas letter, did they tell you how many points you have right now (before the exam)? Obviously i can add them up myself, but wanted to be sure they have it right. I guess i could just ask them. When the program acceptance is based on points, it could definitely come down to one point.

No, they don't tell you your points because those letters are all the same, they just put your name on it :-). I will have 87 pts if I get 20 points on the teas, if not, then 82 points.

I will have the same. Im SO glad i took every single one of those classes prior to applying! The only thing i am iffy on is the poli-sci/history. I got an A in polisci and a B in History. So i hope they will use my polisci grade instead of history because it says "Political Science or History" hmmmmm. Lol. Every point counts! Lol

They will take your higher grade. Somebody asked that question at the orientation and they said they would always choose the highest grade (for Humanities and Pol Sci/Hist) I already have a BA so I had many, many classes taken before, thank God :-).
