Hello future nurses!
I am starting this new thread for everybody that is planning to apply to LACC's nursing program for Fall 2014. How many of you are planning to apply for Fall 2014? I'll be finishing my last prerequisite (chemistry) this winter and hope to apply in February. Good luck to us all!
Did u apply to LAVC as well ?
Yes, I applied to GCC ( not heard from them), to PCC ( waitlisted), to LACC ( accepted) and also to LAVC. Most probablym, my first choice is LACC regardless of the other schools' responses. But we will see, I may not have more choices anyway. I wish we could all go to our first or second choices without having to wait years..

This is great ! You got in to your first choice. I am pretty sure I will bent toward COC regardless the decision on LAVC. COC offers the collaboration with CSUN for the BSN and LAVC don't. There is no traffic going to COC in comparison to drive toward LACC.
I think I am pretty much made up my mind but still leaving my options open.
Annabellesasu, if you go to the webpage of lavc RN program, go to prepare for the first semester, there you find info on what we can expect in the medical clearance package. Of course, it may not be identical to lacc's med. clearance requirements, but it will give you an idea what to expect. I tried my best to get some info on this from lacc but for some reason they won't say a word. we get the package in June and we will most probably need to turn it in within a month. If you get accepted at lavc and choose to go there instead, you will only need to complete those tests, bls course, background test, etc by September only. Hopefully we get this package soon.
Thank you so much I just looked and it helped me a lot!!! Your going to lacc correct
Thank you enzyme.. Do you think they will be discussing those courses we need to take at boot camp.. Or will they give us the info In the package? I wonder how long those classes are.. Any info you have I am all ears!!! :-)
I think the package will only contain the medical clearance info, and everything else will be discussed at the boot camp. But I know, from previous semester students, that classes are held Mon thru Thur, with Mon and Thur being reserved for lectures, and Tue & Wed for clinicals (clinicals start from 7 am to 5 pm). As far as classes go, Monday-only pharmacology, Mon and Thur both lab skills and nursing foundation class (nursing foundation first 8 weeks, and med-surg second 8 weeks of the first semester). And that's about it. I hope it helped. They will give us section numbers to register for those classes during the boot camp, and we will get a book list during the boot camp. At least, that's how they did it last year. They, of course, may change the process this year, but I doubt. Also, last year, the fire and safety training was done at LACC, during the boot camp. After we receive the medical clearance package, they usually give you about a month to complete all the requirements. Last year, the requirements were due sometime in July, definitely before the boot camp.

Do you know if we can turn in the package early? In June, perhaps?
