Hello all,
I'm taking this chance to meet other nurses in PA. Who knows, maybe I've meant some of you. I graduated a year ago, and meant a lot of other nursing students in clinicals, and such.
Anyway, if you're interested in joining this discussion to meet others in PA who are recent grads., leave some comments.
Anyway, I'm wondering what kinds of hours everyone else is working, where people are working, what kinds of skills you're all learning, and your current job satisfaction, etc. Right now, I work quite a number of hours in a cardiovascular surgical unit. It's pretty good experience. Sometimes I find I get taken advantage of to work a lot of hours, but most times I don't mind, cuz I get a lot of good experience. I may move on to CRNA school someday. Any body else have grad. school aspriations?
Anyway, if you're a recent grad. or from PA, join the discussion, and let people know what's out there for new grads.
Thanks,

Hi there, Im a GN on the ortho unit at a hospital about 20 minutes west of Pittsburgh! Does anyone have any good advice on prep. for the NCLEX???????????????????????????????????????????????/:banghead:
My college in PA offered a week long review course for $300.00 and it was well worth it. I know that Kaplan offers one. I would advise anyone to take a course, it breaks down how to read the questions, not panic at the test site, and how to think about the answers and how they apply to the question. Well worth it!
Does anyone have any good advice on prep. for the NCLEX?
Hello and welcome. I used Saunders for the content and used Kaplans book for the study/answering techniques. They have a review book that sums up all of the ways to break down and answer questions ( looking for absolutes, eliminating similar answers, etc) I found it very helpful and you can look for it on Ebay to find it inexpensive. Good luck to you!
Hi I was born and raised in Butler, PA. About 35miles north of Pittsburgh............GO STEELERS:heartbeat:yeah:
I have lived in Northern Kentucky for the past 3.5yrs. 20mins across the river from Cincinnati. There isn't a more beautiful city than Pittsburgh(I'm a bit partial though)!
The first year we moved here the Steelers won the super bowl against the Cincinnati Bengals so our Steeler flag didn't go over too well with our neighbors. Actually the people here are very nice but they don't know how to drive in the snow:eek:, not like we Pittsburghers! They love their chili here:chuckle! I didn't read through all the threads on here to see if any one else is from Butler. Let me know if you are!
Debbie:nurse:
PS: We are going home this weekend to see our grandchildren. That is the hardest part of living here, 5.5hrs away.

Yikes...it has been years since I took the test. We had a Kaplan review course at Pitt. I got a few books and did them on my own. Good luck!
