New Grad Battery Nursing exam (georgetown university hospital
it's not just for new grads, it is for all new hires. i had to take a test when i applied there over a year ago. i was totally not expecting it. the answers are not in the same frame of mind of how they teach you to think in nursing school. it's not patient focused, it's anti law suit focused. good luck.

Think I made a mistake
I kind of think you are dealing with an acute injury and need to take some time to let your body heal. Once you are better, it sounds like you can do this job, based on your experience with cleaning. Get well soon!

Which program to choose- RN or BSN
that's how it works in your school, but you can also become an RN through a certificate program or an associates degree program.

Which program to choose- RN or BSN
go for the BSN. I don't know how I can stress it more. It's becoming preferred and sometimes required in some places. Especially if it's not too much longer, get a BSN. Just trust me on this one. After reading through job descriptions and seeing "BSN preferred" written in so many places... you don't want anything holding you back. You want to graduate your nursing program and get a great job, right? So get the degree that employers want to see. IF you do end up becoming an RN and want to go back and get a BSN, I think Temple University in Philadelphia has an online program that people rave about. I wish you much success!

Who will care for the patients?
I don't understand how hiring agency nurses poses a pt safety risk. If agency nurses don't work and staff-union nurses don't work, WHO WILL CARE FOR THE PTs???

NP Programs
I am going to suggest becoming a Family NP, to keep your options open. You can totally work in pediatrics as an FNP. I looked into that already for myself ;-)

Getting the "Back to School Itch"

Trouble with getting a job
I think it's definitely due to the economy. We still have a shortage of nurses, but the hospitals just cannot afford to pay more nurses. Also, some nurses who were working part time increased their hours if their spouse lost their job.

How many times have you cried???
I was just at the doctor for some blood work and I asked the girls at the front desk if they are hiring. They told me that there are only medical assistants and physicians working in the office. I guess the medical assistants can do everything necessary and they can be paid a lot less.
