Looking For Nursing Schools

Published

Hello Everyone! I am from Michigan and I have been going to school for three years. I applied to Eastern Michigan University School of Nursing for the fall of 2006. I got my rejection letter Friday, so I have been really upset about it. I have wanted to be a nurse since I was in 10th grade, and feel like here in Michigan it is so hard to get in anywhere for Nursing.

I was hoping that I could get suggestions on Nursing Schools to apply to. I do not care if it is out of state, I just want somewhere you get into to without having a 4.0 gpa. I had a 3.3 for the required pre-nursing classes at EMU, I thought that was pretty good. Considering the fact that I got a A- in organic and biochem. So please give me suggestions on schools, I feel so stuck rightnow cause I have to wait another year. PLEASE HELP ME!!!!:o

Hang in there! I don't know if this website will help in giving you info but it lists all nursing schools by state. Good luck.

I also got a rejection letter. I applied to a local community college with a 3.3 and was rejected. I really thought that I had a good chance of getting in. There is still chance that I might hear from them before the start of the semester.

This CC and another state school that offers ADN are my only 2 choices financial wise. I wish that I had money to get into the private universities since sometimes it is easier to get accepted into those programs.

Good luck

I go to WC3 in Belleville and they accept 120 students every Fall and Spring semesters. I've heard that they don't have a waiting list. I know that you probably wouldn't want to transfer from a university to a community college, but it's something to think about. Keep ya head up!

I plan on applying to EMU's program in January for early admittance. At the info meeting I was told that the lowest they accepted was around 3.5-3.6. Where did you complete you pre-reqs? Were they all completed @ Eastern?

Hey Sincere, I go to Wayne County Community in Belleville as well. How far along are you? I am taking A & P II this summer. This would be my final pre-req course for the program. I just took my NET test....I hope to apply for the Winter 2007 Nursing program.

I go to the University of Memphis, and I'm in the nursing program here. I got in with a 3.2 gpa. Mostly everybody enrolled had 3.1 and up. So if you don't mind moving to the south, I'm sure you won't have a problem there.

You could try Macomb Community College. I was doing pre-req's there before I moved. I found that many of the classes I was taking there were transferrable to University of Michigan and Michigan State. Baker College also has nursing but it is EXPENSIVE!!

Wow... Emory has accepted people with less than a 3.5 for GPA (some as low as 2.7) and they are one of the top schools in the country

if you don't mind moving a little bit - columbsu state community college has a great assoicates program! check to see what credits will transfer, and what you still need to take. you must have mult 120/126 done along with taking the net test. it is a pretty good college. best of luck!

Hey DaMomma, I just started last semester so I'm still in the process of completing my prerequisites. Lat semester I took Biology 155 and Political Science. This Semester I have ENG 110, Psychology, and Microbiology 295. All of my classes are online so it's VERY convenient. I won't be finished taking my prereqs until May. I still have to get A&P I and II out of the way before turning in my application. Hopefully, I'll get accepted into Winter 20007 nursing program.

How did you do on the NET test? Also, who are you taking for A&P II? I'm taking that next semester and I'm looking for a good instructor. My sister is taking A&P II with Dr. Gray. She said that he is excellent, but he's not teaching A&P next semester. Have you heard anything about Frank Kitakis? He teaches it as well.

It's nice to meet someone here from WCCCD. Take care!

I would also apply to private colleges in the area. Many of them provide financial assistance that is comparable to what you would end up paying at a public college. You never know!
