Looking for my first CNA job

Published

I'm going to start looking for my first CNA job next week. I really want to work in a hospital, but the chances are slim to none because you need at least one year of experience, or you have to know someone who works at the hospital. :(

Any tips on finding a job? Is it better to apply in person instead of online? Let me know how you find your job.

Thanks. :D

Specializes in PACU, LTC, Med-Surg, Telemetry, Psych.

You will see some cool things in med-surg.

Be aware of low census times in some hospitals, though. There were times I worked med surg CNA when I wondered if I was till working, I sat at home so much.

edit: Lots of politics, too.

Congrats!

HR called me from a nursing home I applied back in July and they want me to call them back on Monday to set up an interview. I hope I get a job at this facility because I have friends and former classmates that work there.

Wish me luck. :yeah:

What state are you?

Specializes in Nursing Assistant.

Good luck KB24!!

Specializes in Geriatrics.

Good luck!! Hope you get the job.

I did my interview today and I got the job. I'll be working with a close friend and former classmate. I start the first week of Sept.

Everything happens for a reason. :yeah:

What state are you?

Illinois.

Specializes in Med-Surg/DOU/Ortho/Onc/Rehab/ER/.

Thank you.

I graduated from my CNA class in March and took my state exam in May. Some people like working in hospitals instead of nursing homes, but I decided to work in a nursing home because I'll be working with friends.

I don't think I'm going to like being a CNA in a nursing home. :o

Nah, just frustrated how the RN on the unit expects me to know everything and she's not willing to help me when I have question.
