Looking for my first CNA job

Published

I'm going to start looking for my first CNA job next week. I really want to work in a hospital, but the chances are slim to none because you need at least one year of experience, or you have to know someone who works at the hospital. :(

Any tips on finding a job? Is it better to apply in person instead of online? Let me know how you find your job.

Thanks. :D

double post sorry

You don't need to know anyone to work in a hospital you just need to impress the people in charge of hiring

Resume

  • Your resume needs to speak for you that will get you into these interviews. If they call you into an interview this means they are interested. It's all up to you after that.

Recruitment Staff

  • They will push for you if they like your personality

Hiring Manager

  • Most will hire you without the experience if you present yourself well and inform them that you are enrolled into a nursing course.

I was hired at the hospital I volunteered at for a year and a half. Plus, I became certified as a nurse assistant and I'm currently enrolled in a nursing program.

With the exception of small rural hospitals, most hospitals utilize completely online applications. If you find out who conducts interviews for the position you are wanting, you can go introduce yourself and attempt to "sell your product."

If you are in school, be sure to tell them. They love nursing students (even pre-nursing).

EXACTLY^^^

I had my first phone interview today and I have an interview tomorrow afternoon.

Wish me luck. :yeah:

I got the job offer.

I had to take my physical and drug test today at the hospital. I'm so excited to start orientation. :D

Specializes in ICU.

Congrats!!!! What kind of unit?

Congrats!!!! What kind of unit?

Thank you. I am going to be working on Med/Surg for 6 months and apply to transfer to PEDS.

My orientation starts in next week. :uhoh3:

It sucks I had to quit my job because my boss forgot I had finals on Monday and Wednesday. The nurse scheduler also lied to her boss to cover her butt. The nurse scheduler told her boss she told me to come in on Monday, but they knew before they offered me the job, I had summer classes and I would not be able to work on Monday and Wednesday. Did she expect me to miss my finals because she forgot I had classes on Monday?

I decided to quit instead of getting fired. This is the same lady who made the hospital replace a new CNA they hired because the CNA was sick and would not be able to come in on her first day.

I hope I get a job offer where I did my clinicals in school.

I am mad and dissapointed because she lied about me and tried to make me look like an irresponsible person. I take pride in my work ethic.

Wow that really sucks sorry that happen to you. Just see this as an opportunity to work for someone who is more professional than these people. Everything happens for a reason.
