Anyone applying?
Did the lady give you any type of receipt?
:anpom:Great Cpr info!!
No she did not give me a receipt for my letter of intent, and I asked her if I needed one and she said I did not need one. I saw her put it in a file cabinet, and I started thinking of the other professors who saw me waiting that day as witnesses!! ha. plus my daughter was with me...jeeze this ordeal is making us all so paranoid, but we have all worked so hard!! Also if you guys still need cpr...go to Northwest rural ems online, and you can print out a form to sign up to take american heart ass. health care provider cpr, in tomball on sat. Oct. 22 from 9-2!! the cost is 40.00...I dropped my form off yesterday in person, and paid. You can send it in with payment. They need it a week in advanced....usually, depending on the class size, also if you live in the city of tomball, you may be able to get your money back! The place is really easy to find...take 249 to tomball, go to the "four corners" intersection which is main st/2920 "same street" at this light you will see a mcdonalds, and burger king on the right...turn right onto main/2920 get in left lane and go about 1/2 to 1 mile..the street is Quinn rd. Take a left onto quinn..you will pass fire dept. on the left keep going you will see a house looking building and then a garage type building and the sign out front says harris county emergency management or something like that..it is on the right..can't miss it!! Hope to meet some of you there!! yaya..HOPE THIS HELPS!! P.S. If you need cpr for your job even not a healthcare related job, save the receipt you may be able to get your money back from your company!! Oh and congrats Kingwood people!! :)
If anyone has printed the forms from the web address on the Congratulatory letter, you'll find that possibly two more vaccines are required than what was listed on the Lonestar Website.
It looks like a Hepatitis B booster is required (which is just an adult dose of 1mL rather than 0.5mL) and the Bacterial Meningitis (vaccine called Menactra, one dose, which is required by all college level students as of January 1, 2012).
I have called over 15 places in the last two days, including Kroger, my doctor, Redi-Clinic, Minute Clinic, several other doctors, and the shots run about $80 for HBV,and $125 for Menactra.
Today, Humble Health Department (281-446-4222) has the HBV in stock, but is booked through Nov 1. If you call back starting 10/18 at 8am, they will make appointments for Nov 1 on.. they charge $15 per person (didn't matter how many vaccines required, she said.)
They recommended Motherland Clinic @ 4040 Yale, Houston, 77018 (713-290-0001) for the Menactra vaccine. They charge $10 per person and are on a walk-in basis. They only have the Menactra in stock right now and don't know when they'll get a shipment of HBV.
Two places for two vaccines for $25 is not bad at all.
If you have a Health Savings Account or Flex Spend Account you can turn the receipts in to those and get reimbursed.
If anyone has information where you can get these vaccines at the same place for a relatively low price, please post it here :)
Hope this helps!
