Hi, just wanted to start a post about my process of applying at lonestar. Hope to hear from other applicants! I have just taken my HESI and will be applying for the spring semester with a score of 11.54
I can only laugh at the poor person who gets me. I truly feel sorry for them. My veins are tiny, they move a lot and they blow when anything prickly gets near them. I am a nurse, phlebotomist, and doctors worst nightmare. I have brought many a people to tears over simple blood draws. My poor husband even warns the people in ER the few times I've had an emergency. They rarely listen but end up looking like a fool. So whoever gets me as a partner I feel for you!
Hi, I have been watching this blog for updates and finally joined too. I am an alternate also for Kingwood and Cyfair. Kingwood first choice, Cyfair second. Congratulations to those that got in. I have a question: doing the SS background check has anyone received any final ok from them? If so how long did it take?
my order went in on the 7th of this month, and I received my results yesterday.
Thank you Momma_D, I got a message that my SS check was cleared today. I am good to go on everything. The only thing standing in my way is waiting on the BON and a final acceptance from either school. The 2 most important things. Does anyone know about paying for classes? Do they want the students to pay for the whole program up front, or is it per semester? Has anyone given thought to how to pay for the program? I have never had to do loans so I am not sure what to do.
While waiting, apply for FAFSA to see if you qualify for a Pell Grant. That alone will cover the majority if not all of your first semester. Depends on what you qualify for. Financial aid is part of what is covered in orientation (Or should be) While most don't want to take student loans, this day and age, it is often the only option available to pay for school; only to join the majority of American graduates who are also up to their eyeballs in student debt.
There are options available, don't let student loans deter you.

I will definitely be utilizing student loans! Certainly it will be like any other program; paying for each semester at a time.
I too am waiting on the BON and an acceptance email. YIKES... This is so exciting and nerve racking at the same time!!
