Hi, just wanted to start a post about my process of applying at lonestar. Hope to hear from other applicants! I have just taken my HESI and will be applying for the spring semester with a score of 11.54
After receiving an appeal approval, I woke this morning to a notification of denial. I'm now in the second appeal process. I must have financial aid as I do not have any other resources. It is a shame that they do not realize the impact this has on a person when you are told only days before starting classes. I don't have a magic hat to pull money out of. I'm a college student. Hopefully the 2nd appeal will go through on Friday. That is all I can pray for. Is there anyone else other than Momma D, waiting on second appeals?
DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE!! The school has to follow protocol and do what they are supposed to do. They too must CYA - if ya know what I mean. I believe that they know that people that have been accepted into the nursing program are students that have a specific goal in mind, and are going to do what is necessary to finish the program. HELL... we have already completed almost half of the 72 hours in the program. (Prerequisites and co-requisites). So, my friends that are waiting with me to hear from the financial aid committee on Friday, stay positive and don't give up.
Hello! Im new to the site but I think I may be able to help out those of you that are struggling for an approved appeal. Mine was approved recently after a lot of circling around the campus. The reason why mine was declined the first time was because they had not changed my degree plan in the system. They had me under Arts which made it seem that I had too many credits because of my previous degree. I hope this helps.
jennjenn0205, I just got all my books from Amazon, ordered new. I checked the description for each, and all the ones that needed access codes stated that they were included. I just checked on them, and they do indeed all come with brand-spankin-new access codes under shiny scratch-offs.
These are the books required by Cy-Fair, though. It cost me $611.21 for the lot, although admittedly I didn't buy the book on how to write a research paper. This is my third year in college...I can write a dang research paper without buying a $6.00 how-to book.

So even if you purchase the book brand new it won't have the access code
