lonestar nursing 2014 hopeful

Published

Hi, just wanted to start a post about my process of applying at lonestar. Hope to hear from other applicants! I have just taken my HESI and will be applying for the spring semester with a score of 11.54

Has anyone heard anything back about the NCLEX RN prepu not being in the book package?[/quote

What the heck.....This is not our fault....We bought what they told us to do...Even the bookstore says get this box and The Wong book and that's it....(unless of course you are taking pharmacology) With that I mentioned to the lady at the bookstore that I was taking Pharmacology as well and her mouth literally dropped open. She could not believe that I was taking this course while in the nursing program. She acted as if it would be impossible for me to do it...To me this is just one more person who is trying to stand in my way to awesomeness....I have had faculty at Lone Star one to many times that have tried to steer me away from dream as being nurse. Telling me that it is too competitive and that there is other things out there to consider doing as career. You know what I love nursing and I am glad I did not listen to any of them or let them change mind.

I had an advisor tell me the same thing, "It's impossible to work full time and go to school full time, you are going to have to choose between work and school." I literally got up and walked out of her office without saying a word. This lady did not know me nor does she know the things that I am capable of doing (as far as being very successful under stress and pressure). I have worked full time and have gone to school full time for the past 2 years and have maintained a 3.6 GPA at a University (I still found kingwood to be more difficult as far as course work goes). I can say that I am extremely nervous about the nursing program in general and even more worried about working and being able to conquer the world at the same time. lol If it comes down to me having to choose- nursing school will ALWAYS win! I'm just glad that we have all connected on this site to keep each other up to date with information. In my opinion- we are nursing students who have a remarkable drive for success- don't mess with us! :)

Malmal,

I had a nursing instructor tell me that a lot of the students do work full time. I don't work but I am a stay at home with 2 kids and 2 step children that have after school activities. My parents are worried I will flunk out of nursing school. I am like come on I got this far, where are the words of encouragement here. Nursing school will always win in my case as well because it's the only thing I have right now that will change my life for my children. I am very glad that I have been involved in this thread because it has made me feel not alone thru this insane process.lol

A lot of people don't realize how hard students work to get into nursing school. If we were not determined we would have given up a long time ago. Thank God for my parents, my husband, and siblings constantly praying for me and telling me not to give up. We will prove everyone that doubted us wrong because we will all survive and accomplish our dreams. Let's all commit to making sure we all succeed.

I know people who have worked and done well and those that have not worked who have done not so well. It's different for every person. I'm going to try to avoid working full time but I will never give up selling my real estate part time. Lol.

I quit my job Tuesday!

Quit my wonderful job of two years last month, but I'm trying to find another one with fewer hours. I may not have as much time, but I still need gas money, so I've still gotta work for this semester at least. Once clinicals start, though, all that gets screwed up.

I wonder if these are acceptable.

I think so...They are all white even the sole

Hello, I bought my books at Kingwood College, but I am missing 2 (the interactive case studies for Brunner & Suddarth's Texbook and the Prepu.) For those who bought the bundle at Kingwood book Store please let me know how many books and CD's were in the box.

Thank you,

I had 2 cd's and 6 books and this was bought yesterday at kingwood

I don't have the prepu book either

I called today and was told that the nclex RN prepu was supposed to be in there and that they were being sent to the college by FedEx.
