lonestar nursing 2014 hopeful

Published

Hi, just wanted to start a post about my process of applying at lonestar. Hope to hear from other applicants! I have just taken my HESI and will be applying for the spring semester with a score of 11.54

I know someone got accepted into cy-fair last year with 10. Something.

Thanks for your feedback Echo5ivedelta! What semester are you in? How do you like the block curriculum setup ? Do you know where I can get a copy of syllabus or outline for the 1st semester? I would love to get a head start on readings to calm my nerves.

I'm so anxiously waiting and curious to what the lowest score that will be accepted this time around....

I'm 1st year LVN hoping for approval on my ADN application. I would've applied last year, but my Microbiology course did not fulfill Lone Star nursing requirements (Transferred from California), so I had to re-take Micro in the form of Medical Microbiology; and decided to take the LVN course as a place holder and because while the credits do NOT transfer, the experience does.

As far as the curriculum, it keeps you on your toes and there is little down time; time management skills and good at-home study habits are key.

In regards to the syllabus, it is not available until the 1st day of class as the instructors constantly change and tweak and adjust things as they go, not to mention, different editions of the text book are always being released; so while it's admirable to want to get ahead, your best bet is to enjoy the down time while you can because there won't be much if any when school kicks off.

When you do get your acceptance, be on the ball in regards to submitting ALL medical and vaccination paperwork, it's time consuming and tedious, but it is required before certain deadlines.

Okay if you get accepted as an alternate, how does this usually work? Is it only for if someone does not make it to the program in the beginning for any reason or are you an alternate for the entire school year?

I'm sorry but I am sooooo freakin nervous

If someone is a now show or fails to register, their space goes to the first-in-line alternate.

So Gayla did you accept the LVN offer? I think its messed up that they make they application periods overlap and you have to pretty much take chances.

I was just thinking the same thing Warren. She has to accept by the 28 and they did not even give ADN acceptance notifications out yet. I am not sure what I would do. Well can't you just accept and if you get accepted into the ADN than cancel on the LVN. It would be a better safe than sorry circumstance.
