lonestar nursing 2014 hopeful

Published

Hi, just wanted to start a post about my process of applying at lonestar. Hope to hear from other applicants! I have just taken my HESI and will be applying for the spring semester with a score of 11.54

I know right, if they go by a point system and we print that page out for them than it's pretty self explanatory. So what takes so long to calculate. You would think that they could have it done in a few days not a month and half

I'm sure there's a lot that goes into it (verifying info, etc.) and they extended the deadline to 9/16, so if they wait until the cutoff to begin sorting through them (which is my guess), then its only been a week.

I was not really checking my email till the end of last week and now. I also keep checking this thread to see if any of you guys have heard any word yet as well...

Okay so I just check the application deadline page....It does say for cy-fair only that the deadline was sept 16. However, as for Kingwood it remained at sept 5. But they did say 4-6 weeks and it has not even been 4 yet. So this going to probably be awhile

I know... and it's killing me!

Well it was the 16th for kingwood as well.......

Realize that not only are they determining who will be selected out of the current batch of applications, they also have to factor in students who were on the alternate list during the last application process and reapplied. On top of that, the same faculty must oversee the Nursing Dept's daily curriculum and responsibilities as well as maintaining rosters for all the clinical sites for legality and liability reasons etc. At CyFair, this is limited to a single faculty member; I'm sure Kingwood has similar staffing shortages.

Notifications will roll out shortly, then the real fun begins and you'll miss the slow days.

Best of luck by the way for all applicants.

Thanks for your feedback Echo5ivedelta! What semester are you in? How do you like the block curriculum setup ? Do you know where I can get a copy of syllabus or outline for the 1st semester? I would love to get a head start on readings to calm my nerves.

I'm so anxiously waiting and curious to what the lowest score that will be accepted this time around....

Amberly27 ,

I didn't get a confirmation email other than when I submitted my application electronically. In person they gave me a orange paper card confirmation for submitting my hardcopy. October is around the corner, but wish we knew now. I guess it won't make much of a difference if I know now or then, because either way I'm going to nursing school this time around or the next time!! I am beginning to get discourage, but POSITIVE THOUGHTS!!!!:nurse::up::yes::) I have work hard for this and will even work harder when I'm in the program!! I will treat it like my second family in the number one place for two years! HIGH HOPES!!!

Echo5iveDelta, Thanks for your posts! It's really nice for someone who has already been through the whole process, along with being in the program, to give us some insight.

Gayla I didn't get one of those, I think it was because as I was walking in ------ was walking out for lunch so I think that's why she emailed me! I know what you mean because that is exactly how I feel as well. Just trying to prep myself for a denial just incase bc I know my likelihood of getting in is low but if not this time around next time!

there is other schools as well in January......guess what..my inbox is empty!!!

My score is low as well, this just means that I got to keep re-taking the HESI to get an even better score and apply again in January.
